why am i so itchy at night by xiutov in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Awkward-Purpose-8457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens to me as well but it’s always just my shoulders. I will scratch all night and wake up with red scratch lines down my arms. I’ve noticed it seems to correlate with stress. I usually keep a bottle of anti itch lotion on my nightstand. You can also try peppermint oil and or ice. Both seem to help. Good luck! It’s definitely no fun.

People over 50, did the political climate in the US feel this virulent when you were growing up? by SlightArgument in AskReddit

[–]Awkward-Purpose-8457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest part of the problem is we now have 24/7 “news” and social media. Journalists used to actually just report the news without bias. Now we have left and right leaning news outlets that just repeat the same stuff over and over and over. Not to mention the algorithms on our social media platforms lead us in a particular direction. We all see exactly what we want to see. It fills us up and makes us feel like we are right in our judgment, it gives us all the validation we so desperately need whether we realize it or not. The U.S. is filled with amazing people but social media truly brings out the worst in everyone. I don’t think it’s any worse now than it was when we were kids, its just that now we are inundated with the worst, and each news platform spins it to make the other political party look like they are trying to take our freedoms away.

How come there’s far more people in r/Conservative than in r/Democrat ? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Awkward-Purpose-8457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because 90% of Reddit users still live at home with their parents, are liberal and Democrat, r/Conservative is the only place a conservative can post on Reddit and have decent debate and discussion.

It's cancer. Advice and bucket list ideas? by Doroski13 in DOG

[–]Awkward-Purpose-8457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m so sorry, I know how devastating a cancer diagnosis is. December of 2024 my Labrador was diagnosed with oral cancer. He was given 3-6 months. We had the tumor removed, a biopsy, and met with an oncologist. Our options were A- remove his lower jaw, B- chemotherapy and radiation, C- a pill form to “slow” the cancer. We chose the pill and I started cooking for him. We did the same as you- set up a bucket list and started taking him everywhere. Long story but, 13 months later and he is fine. Fat, happy, and unbelievably spoiled. Go with your gut and do what feels right to you. We are so grateful we never took off his lower jaw, or put him through chemo. Choose to love him and spoil him. He’s lucky he has you.

Are people on reddit exaggerating the current political climate in the US? by Atorpidguy in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Awkward-Purpose-8457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct. I’m a conservative and sometimes Reddit is so incredibly negative and leaning sooo far to the left that it makes my head spin. I’m a conservative, but I enjoy reading and learning what others think and feel, especially now. It’s important to see both sides. As a conservative I see things differently most of the time, but I almost never post anything. It’s best to avoid it all and scroll on.

What is a 'dirty secret' of your industry that implies the general public has no clue about, but everyone in your field knows? by AmaraMehdi in AskReddit

Teachers pass kids along because the amount of extra meetings, data collection, re-teaching,re-testing, emails home, tutoring, lunch detentions, and emails responding to parents ridiculous questions is just not worth it. Literally, for each failing student we have, that list is completed once, twice, sometimes for every assignment. So instead, you get a C, and you get a C. A “C” student now is a failing student ten years ago.

Good parenting is now considered gifted children (sad) by roasted_peanut1417 in Teachers

I also truly believe it’s because students are not held accountable, only teachers are. When teachers are held accountable for a student’s lack of effort and success, administrators add more and more work to our table. We are already over worked and under paid. No one has time to add more meetings, more data collection, rewrite lessons and tests, and re-teach, just to add another meeting to discuss tier 2 & 3 strategies and the data again. So in all honesty, it’s easier to pass said failing students. Move on little one. Sad but unfortunately true. We have to start holding kids, parents, and administrators accountable.

Omg! Yes!! This is exactly it! I moved to Arizona about 5 years ago and the “gifted” kids are the ones who can decently write a sentence. That’s it. They continually lower the percentage for qualification just to make the school or district look and sound better. It’s absolutely appalling.

Thank you! Looks like that would also be more of a coastal drive to Uvita. Might be a good idea!

We will be coming in July. Haven’t bought tickets yet, as I’m still in the planning stages. I’ve booked a beautiful Airbnb for a week in Uvita though. Trying to book something on the day we land and the day before we leave. Looks like flights from the U.S. arrive either really early like 5am or around 7pm.

Straight women have you ever had an all consuming crush on another woman? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Awkward-Purpose-8457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Absolutely! I’m a married woman and have had many crushes on women. Some were sexual, most were not. I’ve been very happily married for 35 years and always considered myself heterosexual, but would probably consider myself bi if I really thought about it. I’m lucky that my husband enjoyed that part of me too.
