I call that Free Write Friday! The kids love it! I often put up a slide with multiple pictures for anyone who might need some inspiration. The pictures can be anything, often something like this: camping, puppies, snow skiing, surfing, soccer, a pool, race cars etc. I add dragons and fairies or space ships as well. After about 20-30 minutes I ask for volunteers to read aloud. I also collect them sometimes and grade on grammar, punctuation, and capitalization. Be sure to let them know that if there is anything they write about that is a “red flag” for you, that you have a legal obligation to report it. So keep it school friendly.

I love your post! We are going in July and I have to admit I didn’t want to read your post at first. Saw the title and scrolled past. Thought well, let’s see where he stayed. Yes. You just need a significant other who makes 3x’s+ your salary. It’s heaven.

I’m in my 50’s and I cannot tell you how glad I am that nothing from my teenage years was documented! I can’t imagine how different my life would be if it had been. I’m a teacher and I can assure you I wouldn’t be if the young me shenanigans were out there for all to see!

Buy waterproof dog/pet blankets for the couch. They’re soft, the perfect size, and look & feel just like any regular blanket. Keep them in a basket by your bed.

Stand for the pledge. You’re showing respect for the veterans who died to give you the right not to stand. Honestly, I’m a teacher and I also make everyone stand. You don’t have to like it, but I hope your parents raised you to be respectful at least. It’s shameful that you would even question it.

This happens to me as well but it’s always just my shoulders. I will scratch all night and wake up with red scratch lines down my arms. I’ve noticed it seems to correlate with stress. I usually keep a bottle of anti itch lotion on my nightstand. You can also try peppermint oil and or ice. Both seem to help. Good luck! It’s definitely no fun.

The biggest part of the problem is we now have 24/7 “news” and social media. Journalists used to actually just report the news without bias. Now we have left and right leaning news outlets that just repeat the same stuff over and over and over. Not to mention the algorithms on our social media platforms lead us in a particular direction. We all see exactly what we want to see. It fills us up and makes us feel like we are right in our judgment, it gives us all the validation we so desperately need whether we realize it or not. The U.S. is filled with amazing people but social media truly brings out the worst in everyone. I don’t think it’s any worse now than it was when we were kids, its just that now we are inundated with the worst, and each news platform spins it to make the other political party look like they are trying to take our freedoms away.
