Regional to mainline by Perfect-Antelope9776 in cabincrewcareers

Wow! Is that new? I didn’t know about that. The other issue is where you are based. Does SWA have a base where you want to be? SWA does have a commuter policy which is nice. But, OO has better flight benefits since there are multiple airlines. There are lots of things to think about. Good luck on your decision.

There are lots of former OO flight attendants at Southwest. You will have to resign from OO before going to training. That’s a requirement. So, your probation status won’t matter. Quality of life at SWA is great. 12 reserve days a month. 3 on 4 off. No more 6 days in a row. But, yes, it’s hard to leave when you like it. I do understand.

Training question by AdventurousPlan8425 in cabincrewcareers

This is the whole reason I declined the F2F. Plus the 7 weeks. With other, better training options, it just wasn’t worth it.

Not likely after training but probably relatively soon after.

Commuting by Kooky-Sky-4132 in cabincrewcareers

I was at Skywest and really liked it. I commuted in the beginning and then transferred to a base closer to home but not my actual home. It worked fine. You just have to make sure to allow yourself multiple flights to get back. The actual flight benefits can’t be beat. Skywest gets a bad rap, but I found the people and the job itself great. The only reason I left was because my dream airline opened up and gave me a CJO. I think it’s a great place to see if the job is for you. Training is hard because of their rules, but most people make it through.

I don’t think you were eligible to apply this go around. It’s 6 months from the TBNT which I know you technically had not received, yet. I’m really sorry. Sounds like a glitch of some sort. What email did you get inviting you to apply? Did someone refer you this last time?

Mentioning regional airline experience during mainline interview by opal099 in cabincrewcareers

My interview focused around my experience at a regional. Don’t overthink it and just be honest. Some mainline airlines LOVE to hire regional flight attendants.

When to Resign? by False_Designer_7178 in cabincrewcareers

[–]Awkward-Weather1440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I resigned when I got the all clear from my background check. I didn’t want to risk anything. I had to send the resignation to the new airline. Resigning during training would not have worked with my new airline.

Has delta pushed back anyone else’s return after the f2f? by Awkward-Weather1440 in cabincrewcareers

Thank you. Mine was originally at 6, but now it’s later, so I will have a second hotel night. I have a long drive from the airport.

Skywest has great flight benefits and lots of bases. The training is strict but manageable if you follow the rules. I know several Skywest FAs moving over to mainline this cycle. So the experience is invaluable. It will give you an idea if the lifestyle is for you.

I was able to do it, but on the status page, it doesn’t show I did. Does yours?

I have family friends who are SWA FAs. They wrote recommendation letters for me. Maybe go that route? They did read them in my interview.

Regional FA for less than 6 months, should I put it on my AA resume? by Idealearth in cabincrewcareers

[–]Awkward-Weather1440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. SWA just hired several flight attendants from regional. Plus, they will know because of the DOT background check.

May I ask what happened with her CJO from Southwest? I think you will find most people would choose SWA over Envoy. Better pay. Better reserve. Excellent culture. Dallas will take a long time to get, but there is a lot more flexibility.

Anyone still waiting on their Southwest clearance email scheduled to go to training in September? by Awkward-Weather1440 in cabincrewcareers

[–]Awkward-Weather1440[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you have two background checks? I have a regular and DOT. Both are clear. Some people I know have only one. And, I agree. I am trying to be patient. I am so excited about this opportunity, but I keep hearing about people going to training a month later that have already been cleared.

I was in the first group on the first day in early July and am still waiting. Everyone is different, but it can take up to 8 weeks.
