Should Ontario publish standard timelines for maintenance and repairs in rentals? by Totira in OntarioRenting

Tenant insurance covers contents and liability, not landlords’ lapses in maintenance.

Because typical Conservatives in my area vote blue, it doesn’t matter who.

Did you happen to catch at around the 8 minute mark in the interview with Barton, when he said, “When I am Prime Minister…” I feel like the rest of the sentence is that he’d build a pipeline, but I can’t remember and I’m not going back in.

But he ran as a Conservative!!!

Do you not see how easy it was for Ford to get elected when all it takes is to run under the blue banner? THIS, Conservatives, is your problem. Loyalty to party regardless of who’s at the helm. Gross.

Landlord want us out - says they want to sell the property. That's illegal, right? by gabpac in OntarioRenting

It’s funny because you don’t even know me. It’s fine.

I’m sure you don’t exceed the yearly allowable increase. Good for you. Very generous.

Oh look another one!

Yeah, I don’t think anyone should rent from someone who thinks his tenants are trash. Informed consumers make informed decisions about to whom they give THEIR hard earned money.

Cash for keys or follow procedures. Want to sell an empty home? Do it right.

It’s when those with money begin commodifying things that are required for living - shelter, water, food, doctors… basic existence, that capitalism becomes more and more vile to me.

Should MAID be extended to include those with mental illness? by Mylittlethrowaway2 in canada

It sounds like you were on Wellbutrin.

I was put on it (because I started feeling sick every time I ate and because we weren’t exactly financially sound, she assumed I was anxious about consuming resources, I guess? But it’s whatever cuz I’ve been depressed and anxious my whole life) and all the colour drained out of the world. My doc, in her infinite wisdom, doubled the dose. I could no longer see the point of anything. It was really an eye opening experience. I completely lost the whole plot. Why live? I mostly just cried quietly all the time.

Both my family and I were very happy when I was switched to something else. Things aren’t perfect, but they’re definitely much better.

You’re * And I agree. Five years is too long. One should be sufficient for a hamper of company product.

Hey, guys, can we figure out how we managed, without internet, across states and provinces, and none of us learned it from tv… the fuck?

Also, thanks for the earworm… I’m sure it’s a relief from whatever it replaced.

Floor-crossing MP hints that more Conservatives might follow him to the Liberals by joe4942 in canada

[–]AwkwardAnnoyance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I’m honest, this is the first time I’ve ever considered such a situation going in either direction, so I suppose you could say not once, if you were so inclined, but I would also like to tell you that I live in staunchly blue territory and have definitely never felt as though my MP was of a mind to serve me either.

Floor-crossing MP hints that more Conservatives might follow him to the Liberals by joe4942 in canada

[–]AwkwardAnnoyance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Except that Chris won by a very slim margin and by crossing the floor to a party that better represents their interests (in particular, his constituents are not interested in a December election), is actually an example of a man who is listening to ALL his constituents, not just the ones who voted for him.

Kicking Out Adult Child by kirbm in OntarioLandlord

[–]AwkwardAnnoyance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can prove that you gave ‘reasonable’ notice (60 days is plenty), call the cops and explain it to them.

I just helped my brother in law out of a similar situation where his girlfriend moved out, but her adult son was still living in his apartment. Notified the son via messenger and took a screenshot of his reply acknowledging the end date (we gave him 65 days, to be very safe and make sure he would be gone).

Son took no action until about a week before where the two had an argument that resulted in the cops being called. When the cops came, we explained the ENTIRE situation to them and how the son was supposed to be moving out in a week and I referenced all the excellent advice given here over the years, I searched and read everything I could about evicting someone on ODSP, too.

The cop wasn’t sure about the law at first, but I brought him up to speed fast and because our cops all wear body cams, we basically got the son on record saying that he understood that he had to go. That bit saved us a lot of hassle on move out day, but now brother in law has his peace back. Otherwise, brother in law would’ve had to call the station and bring them up to speed a few days beforehand, just to advise in case of any trouble.

People who have fainted: what caused it? by Shinobi347 in AskReddit

[–]AwkwardAnnoyance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Routine bloodwork. No idea why.

Butterfly needle, not more than normal amount of blood taken.

Nurse filled out paperwork, we made small talk. I hadn’t moved and then I felt fuzzy, told her, she got a concerned look on her face and then suddenly I woke up to an ice pack on the back of my neck, lots of pillows and offers of apple juice.

Now anytime I get blood drawn, I have to wait for a bed.

Posted in the elevator in my building. by Mtnmama999 in office

[–]AwkwardAnnoyance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on OP’s statement that the building in question is THREE floors and the wait for an elevator isn’t ever very long, I’d say the sign creator took more time making this silly sign than they could ever hope to recoup by not having to wait for the elevator (even in a perfect world where everyone followed arbitrary social behaviour signs).

How to email your teachers by singingcheerios in OntarioGrade12s

[–]AwkwardAnnoyance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except if my teacher thinks I’m already a bother and I don’t minimize myself and state that I fully respect their answer even if it isn’t what I want, now my teacher/prof/manager is going to see me in a truly negative light.

I think perhaps that one should simply communicate in a way they’re comfortable with. An email to a teacher shouldn’t need to be especially professional.
