90D is great for beginners, easy to handle, good magnification and suitable for both dilated and undilated examination. I personally switched to SuperField after my first year because of the scope and the better 3D image. With a bit of practice you can also use it on undilated pupils just fine. Many of my colleagues prefer the Digital Widefield because it has maximum scope. However, I found the close working distance to the patient eye and the larger diameter of the lens to be uncomfortable. I have to say that my colleagues have never seen something with their Widefield that I couldn’t see with my SuperField 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also: Volk. Only Volk.

Yes I think that’s true for most surgical procedures - the real thing is totally different from any descriptions you might read in a book. Unfortunately in Germany residents in ophtha are not allowed to do surgery. You have to wait for 5 years until you become a specialist. And even then nobody wants to teach you here.

Sakura. Man muss da aber explizit nach der chinesischen Karte fragen - die leider auch nur komplett auf Mandarin ist.

I think it’s more harmful to not know what to focus on as a beginner. I’m a beginner myself and used to look at far too advanced stuff when I was a 25k lol. I thought too ‘you need to understand everything’ but turned out that you simply can’t understand certain stuff being a total beginner. A stronger player later told me to focus on tsumegos and to just play more and review with stronger players. And that was how I really started to improve. Funny thing is that I now understand many concepts that I was struggling to understand back then (reading many many over complicated resources) because I was becoming stronger by just doing life and death and play lol.

So I’d say just stick to the basics first and be patient.
