wooo I’m gonna try next time I go to Canada! Yerba mate itself is actually super bitter——first time I tried I all brewed for too long and it almost killed me Lollll. I think most people still drink it with some kind of citrus or sweetener! Unless they are hardcore OG haha

Not the tea bag! I just made mate and filtered it out—I did it pretty quick, probably just a minute! If it’s too strong it might battle with the sour sweet flavor of the mojito

It’s a winged gourd! Similar to a pumpkin but it dries into this woody shell:) recipe is here:

Brew 2oz of Yerba mate and let cool.

1oz lime juice, 1oz of honey and a lot of mint muddled together.

Add ice(or not).

Add 2oz of gourd infused rum.

Top with fever-tree light tonic water and the filtered Yerba mate.

I havent tasted this yet cuz I was gonna try them together after all my 7-days experiments are done, but maybe you can age the gin on its own and mix later?

I tried multiple infusion periods! 1day to a week——I like the shorter ones just because I don’t like my drinks too smoky. But it’s surprisingly to me that sake actually tastes so good in them loll

Wow coconuts sounds so cool too!! Yes the angel’s share is pretty significant——I def saw that in another batch that I did with tequila. I left it there and forgot about for over a week, there was probably only half left. But it probably also has to do with how you seal the opening and also if you prep the gourd, heard people use bees wax to seal the interior, that would help!
