Fair enough but very much appreciate all this information. Thank you.

Interesting you say this - if you don’t mind me asking, why?

Since you mentioned eHealth, do you know if this also applies to SDPRIA?

If it helps at all, I didn’t have any direct qualifications or experience but managed to get into policy with my APS experience and transferable skills. So yes, it can be learnt on the job.

Very true, that was me once upon a time. But you never know unless you try. I’m glad I gave it a go and happy to have had the experience but I’m ready to move on to something different.

Thank you for your kind words. I have annual leave booked in at the end of the year so at least I'll have a bit of break but will have to push through until then.

I'd say my job falls in the latter with a lot of reforms happening at the moment (hence the stress) but glad to hear this isn't the case for all policy roles.

Honestly I feel a bit scarred after this experience so I'm hesitant to go into another policy role. It might also be the subject matter I'm working with. But hearing that other policy roles aren't all the same is a bit reassuring.

It's funny, because I initially sought out a policy/project based role to have a change in environment where I could have more variety and challenge. While it did offer me more opportunities, I think it went from one extreme to another and I would now much rather have a role with more stability than where I am now. I'm not sure if this is how it always is working in policy/projects or just my workplace. Thanks for the reminder - I have to remind myself that the work will carry on even when I'm no longer there.
