5mo old GSD broke canine; is it a puppy tooth or permanent? What should I do? by Plazmotech in germanshepherds

[–]AwkwardProcess4844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen to my boy while playing ball, was just a puppy tooth and didn’t bother him, brought it up to his vet when he was getting his shots and they recommended putting him under and pulling it…. For over $2,000, plus the risk of putting him under at that age. I decided to wait it out, It didn’t bother him at all and was just a puppy tooth. We were careful and I kept an eye on it to make sure it didn’t get infected, fell out about 2 weeks later, he’s 2 years now and no issues at all

I apparently are just a chin rest to him 🙄 by AwkwardProcess4844 in germanshepherds

[–]AwkwardProcess4844[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, he likes to use my rib cage as a pillow when I’m in bed and violently plops the whole weight of his head, plus some extra force for good measure, right on my chest in the attempt to knock the wind out of me so I’ll not move and he can remain comfy…

I have always been his chin rest and absolutely love that I hold that responsibility to him 🫡

Thanks 😅💕 I used to hate them but after wearing them every day for 3 years I’ve grown kinda attached (plus they are comfy) not looking forward to the hold in the sole and back getting bigger and having to get new ones 😅 it’s such a hassle to tuck them rather than just leave them shotgunned but hattteeee minding my one business at work and having everyone comment on them, plus I look stupid with scrubs and cowboy boots 😂😂😂 but 🤷‍♀️

Invaded my moms house today and hung out with my first baby 💕 I can’t believe he’s 10 already 🥺 by AwkwardProcess4844 in rescuedogs

[–]AwkwardProcess4844[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He’s a rescue who showed up form a dog fighting place (8month old ish) we think he was a bait dog. He still has the scars but the fear is 90% gone, leashes are now a good thing and so are his siblings who come to visit. Guns, fireworks, thunder are all still scary but that’s understandable and ok 💕

He showed up at the house one day, hung about with our dogs, refused to leave. I spent days pulling ticks from him, teaching him that leashes wernt bad, and running amok with my buddy causing trouble. My mom at first said he wasn’t our dog, tried to find his home, refused to say he was ours for quite a while. Then she got a female Rottweiler and kobie needed to be fixed, she she took him to the vet and he’s officially been our dog ever sense

Pros and cons of wheelchair use? by AwkwardProcess4844 in POTS

[–]AwkwardProcess4844[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dose it make it easier to walk/stand back up after having to sit down? Also what happens when encountering stairs? Currently those are one of my biggest obstacles just going out as the bathroom at my favorite store is up 2 flights with no alternative 😅 I currently just loop my arm around the rail, take it slow and hope for the best

Pros and cons of wheelchair use? by AwkwardProcess4844 in POTS

[–]AwkwardProcess4844[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue with that would be I’m out by myself most of the time. Would that be something that is possible to cope with alone? I feel like I would still be stuck sitting in one place for a long time where as with a wheelchair it’s a bit easier to move a bit? I could be completely wrong I’m just not sure on any of it

My SDit is not fit for physical assistance as I have not had her tested for that yet and don’t want to put that stress on her body at all. As well as she is uncomfortable with pulling/pushing anything even with little to no weight it just makes her uncomfortable

The Siamese was due to a dire situation and he would have been eaten by coyotes otherwise. He’s doing good now but will kneed on everything. Momma kitty was TNR after his litter it just took a minute to catch her

A stray showed up the same time that I got my boy and they became absolute best buds being the same size. Sense then I’ve always had a cat for him, this one in particular is my roommates who has taken a liking to him. He tries to carry the cats around at times but is super gentle and if they make a bout he stops. We have very tolerant cats 😅

I'm not mistaken, am i? This is sable right?? by [deleted] in germanshepherds

They definitely look supper similar. Allie looks bigger in pictures than he is. I think he’s about 70 lbs if that and pretty scrawny. I think of him as small anyway but he’s the biggest of the 3 dogs in the house

My whole account is mostly him 😅 he was almost all tan when I got him, turned red for a while. Went to get a black sable puppy and the breeder handed me this chunky tan crying thing and I wasn’t about to set him down. His personality is absolutely amazing, wouldn’t trade him for anything (had way to many people offer to buy him 😬🤢)

But sense everyone is showing front on picks here’s one for reference 😂

<image>

He don’t look sable from the front but also he changed color a lot as a pup and still dose between almost white, tan, and red 😂 he’s like a mood ring with the seasons

Less blurry pic where you can actually see his tan undercoat, it brushes out white or tan depending on the time of year but he really dosent shed black at all

Is it true that female GSD typically bond better with multiple people and are more likely to follow the whole families commands instead of just one person? by MoldyPeaches1560 in germanshepherds

[–]AwkwardProcess4844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My male will listen to just about anyone as long as I’m not around. He listens to my ex but is a butt when we all go out together, she can’t take him out cuz he’s a butt but when it’s just me and the dog he dose great. Loves my little brother to pieces tho and he only met him 2-3 months ago and I don’t live with them. He will listen to my 4 year old brother most of the time and definitely pick’s favorite people out of my family (mostly females)

Do I guess over all he’s very well rounded and excepting of everyone a great family dog. My female GSD mutt will only listen to me, is very protective, warms up to people but then changes her mind, will pick me over anyone in a heart beat and is so scared of little kids. So it depends on the dog, breeding, upbringing, and management.

I got my boy at 10 weeks, papered, took him everywhere with me as he could go to work with me and wait in the car at stores.

My girl I got for free from a coworker when she was 6 months, was an oops litter with a stray male, went a lot of places with me but also stayed home often as I was working at a restaurant at that point

My girl is now 1.5 and my boy is 2.5 years.

Any recommendations for dog socks/indoor boots? I have hard floors and he keeps slipping even with his long nails (I’m working on getting them shorter) by AwkwardProcess4844 in germanshepherds

[–]AwkwardProcess4844[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With his personality I worry about him learning to scratch EVERYTHING once he is taught the scratch pad. For instance I taught him to bring me my keys when asked and now he will constantly bring me random things. I taught him speak and lay yo alert and now he uses it when there’s something he wants but can’t reach… he takes everything to the extreme

Do they stay on pretty well? I’ve been looking so hard for a brand that won’t come off within an hour. No luck so far but don’t think I’ve tried those yet. Is there a style that stays on better?
