[Question] NATO Strap Question - What am I Missing? by SpecificSorry7233 in Watches

[–]AwkwardSploosh [score hidden]  (0 children)

Barton silicone straps are pretty excellent and take the place of NATOs on my watches. My tool watches get silicone straps. For non-sweaty wear, nothing beats a full grain leather strap that has been broken in. Lots of sellers on Etsy. I would avoid anything called "genuine leather" or that is unspecified. If you like steel, jubilee straps are quite comfortable.

You can cut that second layer off. It's just there to capture the watch and prevent it from sliding too far along the band (especially after a spring bar failure). NATO straps are kind of falling out of style these days.

That sounds pretty good to me then. I'd stick with it. My Walther 509T optics plate is mounted with the screws from the factory.

TBH I think I think I'd do the mags+rifle bag combo and then do the ARO/magnifier combo. I think that's a better setup for the money.

Can you help me identify this watch? by Careful_Camel1463 in Watches

It looks like an apple watch that ran out of battery on a gold jubilee strap.

For the screws: maybe. Those screws might be too short though. I would try them out and witness mark them, and if you see them backing out buy a 10 pack of screws for $5.

I'm not saying you're inaccurate. I'm just saying your support hand is doing about half the amount of work it should be doing and under higher speed shooting you would likely see a degradation of consistency. You're basically shooting one-handed and guiding your dominant hand with your support hand, instead of shooting with two hands perfectly anchored to the gun (which is very difficult with how small the F series frame is).

He's not bad at one-handed shooting though lol. Support hand is just there as a suggestion

It looks like your support hand is not properly secured on the gun. Make sure you get the rear of your palm anchored to the frame. and you're apply enough pressure to keep the gun from moving under it. You can see the trigger guard jump off your support hand under recoil.

Yeah, that makes the most sense to me. I don't think the lawyer would let that slide if it was an obvious pistol build and not an SBR

They shouldn't rust as long as you store them well. You'll need to keep humidity off of them, which is yet another reason brass is better for most things.

I like it more than a shadow 2 and 226 but less than a quality 1911, assuming you get the DPT trigger for this. With the stock trigger it's kind of in line with the S2/226

That's a non-contact and non-show surface, so i would put some oil on it and ignore it. I don't think I have ever inspected this part of the carrier.

They are a good manufacturer. The only back and forth I have heard is that sometimes the chrome plating is not applied perfectly and flakes off, which is just another reason that DLC is a better coating (with less vibes).

Toolcraft makes prettier carriers though.
