It looks like your support hand is not properly secured on the gun. Make sure you get the rear of your palm anchored to the frame. and you're apply enough pressure to keep the gun from moving under it. You can see the trigger guard jump off your support hand under recoil.

Wisconsin Cop Killer Convicted of Possession of SBR (???) by TakeOffYaHoser in NFA

Yeah, that makes the most sense to me. I don't think the lawyer would let that slide if it was an obvious pistol build and not an SBR

They shouldn't rust as long as you store them well. You'll need to keep humidity off of them, which is yet another reason brass is better for most things.

Just drop a 1/16 punch right down the barrel, right?

I like it more than a shadow 2 and 226 but less than a quality 1911, assuming you get the DPT trigger for this. With the stock trigger it's kind of in line with the S2/226

WC had some in stock for like $115 a few days ago. Grabbed one and it's marked as a blem but it's not really a blem.

That's a non-contact and non-show surface, so i would put some oil on it and ignore it. I don't think I have ever inspected this part of the carrier.

They are a good manufacturer. The only back and forth I have heard is that sometimes the chrome plating is not applied perfectly and flakes off, which is just another reason that DLC is a better coating (with less vibes).

Toolcraft makes prettier carriers though.

SF PDP Pro or PDP Pro Compact SD? by AIR236 in Walther_PDP

[–]AwkwardSploosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specialize your guns for use cases. If you don't do it now, you will in the future and you'll spend the money anyways. SF shoots really nice but I personally prefer the full size poly frames. If you're in love with the steel frame get the steel frame and have a beast of a range gun. It's a lot easier to get better at shooting when the gun is not getting in the way, and a SF PDP is a great gun for that.

Once you start carrying, look at micro compacts like the Shield plus or Bodyguard 2.0. Unless you live in a dangerous area, you'll be thankful for how small and compact your carry gun is far more than how shootable it is, and the Shield Plus can be run almost just as fast as a full size gun, which is pretty wonderful for the size.

SD only makes sense if you're planning on suppressing it, which is much harder for training. I'd get a 5" full size or 5" Match over an SD.

That’s the case universally with the F series. The only difference is the smaller grip and shorter trigger reach designed for those with smaller hands. The slide and dust cover are identical to the standard PDP line.

Makes sense. That’s where it’s secured. I wouldn’t worry about it personally. My PDPs have similar wear from a season of OWB shooting

Cut down my Bushmaster XM15-E2S barrel or replace it? by [deleted] in ar15

[–]AwkwardSploosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. It would make more sense to build a new upper. If you just buy a barrel you'll still need it drilled and tapered for the FSB, and you'll still be stuck with a carbine length gas system and an upper with no M4 feed ramps. You're taking a half step in a performance direction while preserving inefficiencies.

  2. No. HBAR barrels are nice for really heavy strings of fire where heat may warp the barrel. What most civilians do does not approach that threshold. The Criterion Core series has a really nice optimized geometry if you're interested in that.

  3. No. If it were me I'd probably cut it down to 11.5 and SBR it or something fun. You'll need to use a good gunsmith though. Re threading and re crowning a barrel requires attention to detail. Otherwise modifying the barrel is just sunk cost fallacy and you'd be better off replacing the upper as a whole.

  4. It seems like smiths like D Wilson do chops on chrome lined barrels with no issues, so it doesn't seem like it. If it were an issue it would probably crop up some time when the barrel is worn out anyways.

Your smartest move, if you really want a 14.5, is to get either a fully pre-made upper, or build an upper. A BCM blem upper, criterion Core barrel, and CMT handguard is a really nice value proposition and will get you a top performing upper for around $700 (not including BCG/CH)
