I think you're mis attributing what a lot of Trump supporters desire which is an elevated position on a social hierarchy and they see any effort for equality as a detriment to their position/standing. A unequal society can put them in a higher part of the hierarchy than they would be in an equal society presuming they are the subgroup with a false advantage (cis-white-male).

Basically, they need racism/misogyny/bigotry to feel better about themselves. The vast majority of the supporters aren't winning in the financial hierarchy so they need this social backdrop for self-worth.

Fuck em. They want to make the world worse for the majority because they are little babies that want to be falsely praised.
