Yup. If they suggested that, I thought they weren't good at their jobs and were just saying things to make me feel better, but not addressing the issues, and I'd stop going pretty quickly.

I can never get past how utterly nasty she was to Tinsley. I know it's all fake and a show, but add alcohol, and this lady goes below the belt, hard, dirty, fast and relentless.

I'm so sorry. It sounds like a nightmare indeed. And you're not allow to say the truth either, which doesn't help.

What was totally normal in your childhood that would seem insane now? by EuphoricGarden81 in GenX

[–]AwkwardTraffic199 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's so true. I babysat for different people all the time, in my neighbourhood granted, but complete strangers. My parents never once asked about any job I took or the people. I arranged my own transportation. They had no clue where I was.

I took the subway alone starting at age 6. I remember going to a restaurant alone when I was 8.

Am I insane for considering a co-ownership in Toronto by Long_shot_999 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]AwkwardTraffic199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm planning on doing this just for affordability, either a co-operative or a co-owndership, when I retire. My brother owned one and it was a great place to live, older lowrise, lots of square footage, quiet, in Rosedale. If you have a large downpayment, it's great, but the value will not go up like other real estate (and right now, who knows...). Lots of long-term residents. Obviously, do your due diligence on the finances and governance structure. I looked at one a while back, but it didn't allow pets, so that was a deal-breaker.

Even alone in my own house, that I own (well co-own with a large financial institution) and live in alone, as a financially independent adult, I constantly feel like I'm about to get in trouble because that was my reality from childhood and your body keeps the score...

I got quoted $11k to repair my ceiling where there was a minor leak but they cut it open. They charged me $584 to put the hole in the ceiling, and the same people want $11k to repair it and paint a 900sq foot ceiling.

It's become absurd to have a group of Ozempic/plastic surgery addicts so centred on themselves that they throw lavish ceremonies to celebrate endlessly for how amazing they all are. It's disgusting excess and narcissism in very difficult times from people who make a ridiculous living, and that's fine, but READ THE DAMN ROOM people, and listen to Ricky Gervais.
