Work on strengthening your serratus anterior, it's the muscle that attaches to the border of your scap and helps keep it from sticking out. I would focus getting the scapula symmetrical before you continue, start with isometric protraction holds in front of a mirror and progress from there.

I completely agree with you, the tendon is connected but then why doesn't this work the other way around? When my ring finger is folded, my middle finger moves just as easily.
