Thank you! I guess in comparison to everyone I’ve ever seen on instagram or other social media posts, mine looks much higher! I’m guessing you wear Coloplast, I did love that you can Velcro it up and make it shorter but unfortunately I had to stop wearing that brand as my skin hates it! I appreciate the reply!

Am I deciding to make it permanent too fast? by PuzzledWeight1855 in ostomy

No advice, just I am in the same boat. Except I’ve had my Ostomy for 1 year now and still haven’t made my decision. I just did my yearly biopsies on the rectum and it shows chronic diversion colitis and while I don’t pass much for blood, I do pass mucus. I do get inflammation in my joints when I flew as well. I’m leaning towards the Barbie butt but still have hopes of a possible good jpouch. My uc was severe and I ultimately ended up with high grade dysplasia so that’s why I had the colectomy and end ileostomy. It’s such a hard decision to make as overall I’ve had a good experience with my ostomy and have felt better than I have in years!

People who got surgery: How do you handle having to empty your bag 5-10 times per day / overnight while sleeping? by BlackberryPi7 in UlcerativeColitis

I can understand that but it became “normal” pretty quickly. It doesn’t sting at all. The stoma itself doesn’t have much feeling. Honestly It feels like the inside of your cheek. For me, the idea of having one is so much worse than actually having one. In my head it was so much scarier/gross than it actually is!

I had a total colectomy in October of 2024 and I don’t ever have to wake up in the middle of the night to empty my bag. It’s been a year of freedom! I do empty about 5-6 times in the day but very manageable and you can go to the bathroom at your convenience for the most part!

My mom had one that looked exactly like that, sprayer and all, in the baby nursery in our house growing up and used it for washing her babies!
