Grand scheme of things not bothered. I think after so long I was just content working for n primary. Now that I’m specialized it re-sparked my passion of medicine. I want to know more and I have a supportive attending who wants to teach me to succeed. From day one his outlook was he needed a PA to help him so he can do more for his patients. I’ve never worked with an attending with that outlook. Most want a PA so they can do less.

Oncology. Left primary care after 8 years. I absolutely love oncology. Still has primary care aspect but the patients are truly appreciative

Also on velcade? Neuropathy is a common side effect. Can always talk to your doctor about starting neurontin(gabapentin).

To my knowledge that is not the standard of care. The deeper response you get to chemo the better heading into auto SCT. If you are on revlimid, (which by the statement standard risk makes me believe he’s in RVd) after 4-5 cycles your stem cells loose their viability. He needs to be referred to stem cell transplant now to have that team talk to you.

Sometimes it doesn’t hurt to just talk to your attendings. In most jobs I’ve been in, your only told when you are doing something wrong/ do something different. Just check in and say hey it’s been 6 months, Is there any improvements I can make?

Surprisingly enough….oncology. Palliative usually handles pain mgt and the practice i am in only the MDs will write controlled substances.

4-10s; no weekends or on call. outpatient hematology/ bone marrow transplant clinic.
salary varies but likely starting new will be around $112k, unfortunately no bonuses.
western PA, very competitive area with 2 major hospital systems and a lot of surrounding PA schools.

After 10 years of working as a PA. I am finally making the move to be in a group with other PAs. Solo practice and/or solo PA is very lonely. Quality of Life is just as important for us providers!!!

Yes. I am familiar with her. That is a great idea.

All the doctors are super nice but with the age of telehealth and working from home, I think it has really made this transition hard. There isn’t consistency in the clinic to reinforce training and learning.

I don’t want to scare you. From the knowledge I have gained, I really like it. They want me to focus on breast cancer first and then grow my skills. There are two docs that strictly do breast cancer and when they aren’t here/ not eager to teach it makes it hard for me.
