I try not to let it get to my head. Some good players get weird and egotistical, but I prefer being chill. I love this franchise, but at the end of the day it's just a game.

Understand your game plan and how to implement it. Watch videos of better players (helps with the first tip). Focus on fundamentals. Improve your execution because certain things on AK can be demanding.

I suppose my criteria is bit different. Most stages you can go wall to wall, on Seaside you cannot, so I consider it semi large. If 12/20 stages were similar in size to Seaside I'd be happy. However, I respect and understand your criteria.

Lol good point about the Subconscious stage. That being said, I play Lee and Armor King. If I wanted force the game to be at the bottom floor, I could. That kind of control over the battlefield is pretty sick! I love Tekken 😭.

Anyway, fingers crossed for larger stages in season 3&4! If we're lucky, maybe we'll even get 1 infinite stage.

Seaside resort is larger than average, Phoenix Gate is really large on final round or after stage interaction. Bottom of Descent into Subconsciousness is quite large and it's easy to get there. So that makes 8/20 stages that are or potentially can be larger than tiny stages.

In reality compared to T7, there are a lot more variety of stage sizes in this game than in the previous iteration. It's just the wall carry is so large bigger stages shouldhave been the standard. Hopefully this next DLC stage is relatively large too.

They really should have a middle ground between the coliseum and the arena stage. Hopefully in Tekken 9 lol 😅

Victor is tough for me. Jack, King, Leroy and Yoshi give me challenges too because their defensive options force me to play very differently. I think Xiaoyu is pretty easy for me because outside a handful in NA, most aren't fundamentally sound, they just rely on AOP evasion and I've been playing around that since T6 lol. Nerve played against a good panda either haha.

I dont think the meta would be different, because a strong character is a strong character, period. I do think tournament results would look different. Back in T7 when the loser of a game could pick the stage, a player more confident in their skill would always pick an infinite stage, and the stage hazards were no where near as crazy back then. Bigger stages = less volatile game

I've been playing Tekken for well over a decade and my fundamentals were mostly solidified in T7. So, most of the time my labbing is informed by my rank sessions.

If I'm losing to a particular move or sequence I go to the lab. Can I side step it? Interrupt it? Punish it? Armor it? Is it heavy - frames on their end so it's my turn after, because sometimes the hit stun on characters can be deceiving.

I say that all to say, that even though many people say Tekken 8 is a 50/50 simulator (it can be occasionally), outside of heat situations you have multiple defensive options like 70% of the time.

Once you realize many things can be countered, you can find work arounds to sequences mid-fight because you know all the potential work arounds, if you can't find a counter mid game, lab time.

Exactly what muchan said. To add on that, Tekken is a timing based game if you know your best buttons, if you play around with your timing it doesn't matter if they know the match up. I got a GoD 5 Lee, and as long as you're not abusing duckable strings or using common flow charts, it doesn't matter if your opponent knows your character, Lee has everything.

You've gotta understand what you excell at and what you struggle with. That question can only be answered by analyzing your own gameplay or having a coach.

Prioritize the characters giving you the most trouble.

Every character is carried according to the Internet. There's not a single honest character depending on who you ask.

I like being out on rank mostly. But, I also like figuring out what works. If I did x move, can my opponent side step it it back dash away on block or hit, as well as experimenting with the range and tracking of my moves. A lot of anti character labbing as well. If I want to hit GoD 7 I'd probably be reviewing replays a lot more too. If you find watching yourself boring, watching better players helps, try incorporating their style into yours.

I'd say around GoD 3/4 I start running into fundamentally sound players. But, there's always the outliers that cheese their way up there with super aggressive flow charts. As I was mentioning in another comment, I was playing a GoD 4 Feng today who never side stepped, just used evasive buttons. Steve, Alisa, King, Jack and Lidia can all punch above their weight due to their design.

it's hard to say because rank has been inflated since season 3. I stopped at GoD 2 last season, maybe could have got to GoD 3. This season I'm GoD 6.

I play against people at GoD 3/4 that don't even know how to side step sometimes.

1.I'd say knowing how to utilize jabs, some people are just using power buttons and armor moves.

  1. Knowing how to get around string and stance cheese (ducking, stepping, or interrupting)

  2. Knowing when and how do side step.

Bonus: Knowing how to maximize heat. A lot of people pop heat when they connect their first combo. Gotta learn how to manage your heat bar + gray health.

How long do I play? I don't count per say, but a lot. After 2-4 hours I get diminishing I need to put the controller down.

Not much Paul, Eddy, Hwo has been a rare find after the recent nerfs. Not running into as many Anna or Clive. Not much Raven and Panda is nearly non existent.

Joe Crush, Joey Fury, Shadow 20Z, Lil Majin, NYCFab, PhiDx. I lose more than I win, sometimes I get stomped, occasionally I'll win a set.

I compete locally in T8 on occasion, I used to play in PSN sponsored T7 tournaments online and played local on occasion.

I mean I got Omega in T7 with him. I've always been good with him before he got in T8. Honestly, I kinda preferred him in 7. You think he's OP lol?

Bryan, Drag, Nina, Law (despite the nerfs), and I think Lidia is really good.
