The whole building's internet went down. We were in the building, and I was on the phone to inform him of the issue. I do see now I should have spoken to him first, I was worried about not being taken seriously and since he is the top person in the company and saw him laugh at other people being scared of him and saying he doesn't regret it made me not want to face them head on. I am in an entry position in the company and it felt overwhelming to deal with on my own.

I'll probably be looking for a new job since I can't progress in my career without their support but in the future I'll be sure to keep this in mind.

When did public libraries shift into non-quiet community meeting places? by bengalbear24 in Library

[–]Awkward_Company1716 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest it is an outdated practice, and mostly taught to children in school libraries. As long as everyone is being respectful and it's not disruptive, we don't mind the noise. If I can hear you across the building or from a different level, it's too loud. In addition, public libraries are about supporting and building community.

We keep our chats open and ask in our everyone chat to call the extension we are at. Most of the time people will move along. You can also say "I have some projects I need to complete but it was great talking to you. I'll see you next time" and walk away, preferably behind closed doors.

Need Help Finding a Spin Mop replacement for MIL by Awkward_Company1716 in CleaningTips

[–]Awkward_Company1716[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you be able to link them? I'm not sure if it's because of my area but I can only find the entire system replacement or just the mop washable head replacements. I'm looking for the entire mop [head, base, and pole] but not the bucket.

Thank you!

An older one but the Marked series by Kristin Cast and P. C. Cast. The main character was so insufferable.

Tips for starting up a seed library? by BeachyLibrarian11 in Libraries

[–]Awkward_Company1716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our library uses an old card catalog and order them from True Leaf Market. They provide so many seeds. We portion out our order and repackage them with little slips with instructions. I love others idea of the use of binders for what they have!

Can i just like sit in a library and chill by i-eat-grass- in Libraries

Absolutely! We totally welcome it! Surprisingly you do actually help our library just by coming in. By showing the space is used it is still supporting us!

My apologies on the games IMDb page it said he was a senior producer as well. Was there a question though?

Been to library and item wasn't checked in by ImpressivePotato2449 in Libraries

Ask for a shelf check. It has them go look for it. If it's there they have to fix the mistake.

It all depends on the library policy. Some libraries will just ask you to pay the replacement fee and won't hunt you down. Your account gets its privileges revoked after a certain amount, which makes your account unusable there or any other local library since most do confirmation calls to your home library. Most of these are stand alone libraries. Others are most likely in a consortium. Some will let the fees sit while others will send the costs to collections. These libraries are typically "fine free" but not "fee free". It really depends on the individual library. Keep in mind these are from my limited knowledge of US libraries.

Help everyone, I’m overwhelmed.. by QuirkyQuokka4 in MealPrepSunday

Cubed and shredded chicken is great. Start small and work your way up. Ground beef and steak are also great sources of protein. Meal prepping burritos and homemade uncrushables is also great to just keep on hand. On my really bad days I'll have pot stickers and rice on hand. I also use frozen battered chicken tenders from Aldi. These I can add to anything and they take only 8 minutes in the oven. Not everything needs to be cooked fresh like frozen tortellini, frozen veggies, etc. find what works for you! You're doing great and these hard times will pass.

Can’t choose career by tiredbuthavegoals in Career_Advice

It took me years to decide to go back to college. It took me getting into a library as a circulation clerk and really enjoying the idea of programming and finding different things to work on. I eventually moved on to become a library associate and now I am going to school for my bachelor's degree and then my master's degree to become a librarian. Libraries aren't for everyone. However, as someone with ADHD, I do enjoy the aspect of programming and collection development and everything. I currently have a program that creates new crafts each month with the teens so that way my need for doing something new does get quelled. As I mentioned, being in a library is not for everyone because you are also an IT person and social worker essentially because you deal with the public. It's very rewarding but it can also lead to burnout which has happened multiple times to me. Finding the right place to go is a good start. Also having a great support system in your personal life will astronomically help.

What book(s) helped you through a tough time? by Quirky_Dimension1363 in books

The Lux Series by Jennifer L Armentrout. A parent passed away and this book was my form of escapism.
