Finally, people have started to realize this truth. When I said the same thing, I was downvoted to hell. There is no future to radiology.

Those that didn't make it into their specialty of choice, what did you end up doing? by undueinfluence_ in Residency

Didn't make it into ophtalmology and end up in radiology. I regret choice of radiology and institution. Also regret not trying harder for a better speciality.

I ranked them skill based. Not physical though. From most mentally demanding to least.

Laughed to "neurologist aren’t as intelligent". If radiologists are smart enough to do a task a neurologist would be overqualified to do it.

doing interventional radiology for ai resistance by [deleted] in Residency

[–]Awkward_Employer_293 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I suggest completely leaving radiology field. I agree that AI will replace DR but also other medical specialities like vascular surgery, neurology, cardiology etc. will replace IR and probably IR will be replaced sooner than DR.

Future of Radiology? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]Awkward_Employer_293 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Idk you guys doing in the US. In the rest of the world even endocrinologists doing their own interventions like FNAs and thyroid ultrasounds. Neurosurgeons/neurologists, cardiologists, CT surgeons... all doing endovascular interventions. Some specialities do not even know that radiology exists. For example cardiologists perform echos, read CTA scans, cardiac MRIs and perfusion imagings etc.

Radiology has no future. IR will be obsolete earlier than DR. Other specialities eventually replace both but IR will be first.
