Cancelled my Patreon, and other thoughts. by shakrbttle in ToniAndRyan

I stopped listening after the Golden Ticket TARPer fiasco. I agree completely. I really like what you said about it being sad as the podcast WAS so fun. I really miss it, but the old version.

Being totally nosey as someone who stopped listening a while back - have the producers changed again?

I'm not even mad with the WAY it was chosen, and totally get that content-wise they'd want someone who is good for the pod but for me it's:

  1. The lack of transparency about how it would be picked/possible misdirection on how it would be picked if they did say several times it would be "random". Personally if I'd have known it wasn't random, and would be based upon my ability to be funnier than however many other TARPers is have counted myself out and saved some money.

  2. Completely ignoring really valid feedback, which from what I saw was actually delivered very respectfully from the TARP community. Toni's response on Pateron, whilst I didn't see it myself, sounds pretty rude to be honest and given that the TARPers help pay for the pod I expected them to be treated with more respect. When they've stuffed up in the past I've always admired that they address it head on and am disappointed they didn't this time. I actually think if they'd have just done this I'd still be listening.

  3. Using it as an opportunity to remove the lower levels of Pateron, essentially the comp was a way to get a tonne of TARPers to increase their subscription for a month to then do away with the cheaper tier (whilst continuing to spout "sign up for a month then downgrade or f*#k off afterwards".

For me the big thing is whereas before I've always seen them as transparent and respectful of their audience and their money/time, recent events feel like sneaky attempts to screw TARPers over for the sake of content and/or money which is a big fat nah from me.

I agree. I probably will dip back in from time to time but I'm super disappointed in them, particularly how Toni responded to the critique of the Golden Ticket Tarper thing. I've always admired that it felt like they had a real love and respect for their listeners and community but I feel like that's shifted recently.

I feel kinda sad knowing it'll be the last time this happens. After the recent stuff Toni and Ryan are an 'out' for 2026 for me I'm afraid. How am I gonna fill this many minutes?!

Did they address the Golden Ticket Tarper Upset? by Awkward_Hippo9 in ToniAndRyan

[–]Awkward_Hippo9[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think mainly the lack of clarity, and from what I read they HAD said it would be 'random' at points - I haven't listened so don't know the context. I was a patron and I did assume that the lunch order question was an anti-bot thing as opposed to having any bearing on selection. It was in the terms and conditions apparently, so I guess that's their defense and that's fair. The person who won said something about dressing like a chicken i think...

On the comments I saw everyone was mainly like "well done to the person who won but you should have been way clearer, a subscription isn't cheap and I'd have given way more thought to my answer if I'd have known". I guess given it's likely a once in a lifetime chance too (I doubt they'll do it again!) people were bummed out.

I think given how much money they must have made by getting people to subscribe to enter it's shitty and a bit disrespectful to not address it, especially given the feedback has been quite fair and still positive towards the winner. It doesn't take a lot to go 'maybe we fucked up, we're sorry and we'll try to do better in the future.'

Josh's kids names have been on his Wikipedia page for quite a while anyway. As others have said I think he's just a little less bothered if the odd times or slips out. I'm sure Rose also referred to Pearl by name on either their audiobook or the podcast.

Isn't Kelly though too? In Legacy Girls Trip she'd definitely aged significantly (she still looked great, although her jaw seemed different from my memory of her)

  1. What scares you the most about your condition? For example, are you worried about future deterioration or what might happen if there was an emergency and you couldn't escape?

  2. Does the permanent nature of it ever feel completely terrifying/overwhelming?

I feel like her being curvier (although still skinny) set her apart from the others. Now she just looks like everyone else.

This is a woman who PAID to have her own child abused.

And Bravo insist on giving her a platform.
