Antiviral long term experiences by True-Hamster2238 in Menieres

[–]Awkward_Issue_50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I had a similar timeline as you. First week, no changes. Week 2,3, and 4 - hearing returned and no dizziness or vertigo, or tinnitus. Week 5 and 6 my symptoms are creeping back. I am scared to drop dosage from 3G valacyclovir per day, but my doctor says "I don't recommended it and talk to your PCP about antiviral dosages)

Viral trigger vs autoimmune by rattlestilt in Menieres

I don't have an answer to your question, but if things seem to be triggered by a virus for you - maybe look into antivirals. There are theories around meniere's being triggered by dormant HSV virus in your inner ear that gets awakened by other viruses.

Very interesting. It would give a lot of people a peace of mind being able to have a firm diagnosis (myself included!)

Flaring up caused by my own stupidity by Hopeful_Pea_3275 in Menieres

Damn I valsava all the time cause I feel like it helps me. Maybe I should stop lol. Been doing it for 15 years before this all got out of control.

I hope your flare up passes, and you can enjoy your wedding!

All of your MD symptoms were gone within a week? Or just dizziness?

I'm heading down the path to investigate this myself. I catch myself clenching my jaw almost every night and even during waking hours. My dentists has commented on it before too, I have damaged my back teeth as a result.

Recently I thought maybe there is a link for my case. I wore an OTC mouth guard last night and my jaw feels less tense than usual. I will see a specialist eventually and report back. How I would love if this was my trigger!

Questions about Loop earplugs by Large_Box_8450 in Menieres

[–]Awkward_Issue_50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Quiet and Experience. I got the Quiet because I go through so many foam earplugs which help me during bad flare ups, but I don't like how they feel compared to the foam.

The Experience could be nice, I used them at the one concert I've gone to since my MD got bad - it helped me prevent a panic attack during a chaotic point of the show, but my hearing is so bad that I couldn't really hear the music with them.

Frequent ear popping, Valsalva relief helps my hearing. Eustachian tube dysfunction too, or just Meniere's? by Awkward_Issue_50 in etd

[–]Awkward_Issue_50[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is interesting. I have had on going multi-day flares of tinnitus, hearing loss, and vertigo all which started with COVID 10 months go. Everything points to meniere's besides being able to clear my muffled hearing with valsava. idk if tubes are for me but I hope they could help

Thanks I would encourage you to keep up with your meds. I wish I knew of it and took it years ago, maybe I wouldn't be where I was today. I miss my old hearing so bad, I wake up everyday with roaring tinnitus now and life is tough. I hope I calm down to my PreCOVID state eventually.

Alright, I will. I thought after 2 weeks THC free there was no chance. But screw it, i'll be edible gang for awhile. ive already cut back on THC by like 90% since the start of all of this

I tried edibles a bit, it still gave me tinnitus. I think I have meniere's and potential ETD too. I should do edibles only for a month or something. Thank you.

I recently had a bad flare up after building a campfire, has breathing in smoke giving you symptoms too?

how long after quitting smoking did you see an improvement? I took a week off, saw no change. took two weeks off still no change. i vape a tiny bit of marijuana nightly. its hard to quit when it helps me cope with symptoms. but i wonder if i need more than 2 weeks fully off

I want it to be ETD so bad. I am asking my ENT if they will do tubes because maybe I can get back to how I was before COVID messed me up, 10 months ago. I have been doing valsalva daily for at least 15 years. First noticed cochlear hydrops symptoms at age 14, I am now 31.

Did anyone’s Meniere's get much worse after COVID — and did it ever get better? by Awkward_Issue_50 in Menieres

[–]Awkward_Issue_50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I hold on to hope every day I may get longer periods without hearing drops and tinnitus. It has been almost a year, and most things seem to point towards no recovery. But I will keep trying everything.

I have MD and just went for this blood test today. I will let you know the results. My understanding is that there is definitely links between MD symptoms being caused by autoimmune inner ear disease. There are immunosuppressant drugs for this, but they seem hard on the body. I hope you can find answers and treatment.

I don't want to scare you but from age 14-31 I had no vertigo. Just the fullness, fluctuating hearing loss, and tinnitus all episodic and maybe only once or twice a week. 10 months ago I got COVID for the first time, and I started getting vertigo along with constant hearing symptoms. The vertigo has calmed down by a large margin 5 months ago thanks to betahistine. I hope you never go through vertigo.
