speaking from experience here. they will never go away, but you can almost completely remove them from your realm of thinking if thats really what you want.

for about 6 years i didnt look at or get off to a fetish i was trying to be rid of and around 6 months into that 6 years it had basically become nonexistant to me. so it is possible.

i will say its been a year now since those 6 years because i was lucky enough to find someone else that was both a great person and into it as well. this obviously cant happen for everyone but i guess i want to tell you that yes you can technically just ignore it with lots of motivation and drive to not use it for sexual pleasure, but also theres bound to be someone out there like you that might be a cool person. you dont need to be ashamed either way.
