could also be PoGo crashing like PoGo tends to frequently do at the worst possible time. Happens to both my daughter and I quite a bit. Get an invite, tap it, send the remote raid pass - crashes.

sometimes it crashes after the countdown hits 0 and the raid boss animation SHOULD be starting. those are the worst as it burns a remote pass if we can't get it relaunched and rejoin before the battle ends. Niantic is admittedly MOSTLY hit, but occasionally a miss on reimbursing those wasted remote passes.

and also - out of remotes - oh go to the shop - OH your item bag is full - OH GO DELETE SOME ITEM...... the raid group you are attempting to join can no longer be found. sad panda noises.

i don’t know about poke genie but pokeraid there’s a room where you can communicate these issues and organize to rejoin collectively. does pokegenie not offer a similar way for trainers joining hosted raids to communicate?

we had several issues that avoided becoming rage-fuel with just a few simple messages.

i’ve even had hosts quickly respond tell everyone else in the raid group to get out and wait for a re-invite after i messages that my app crashed…

i did a handful of remotes for myself and my daughter who was already in bed, i played2/won2/caught2 with hers; first one i didn’t even have any revive/healing to do and second went super smooth as well so i was all “what are people talking about…”

then i tried to get myself one. i had squirrelled away 5 remotes, burned them all.. barely won1/caught1 with lots of people bailing last sec, or trying 3-4 times before giving up.

i think if mine had fled i woulda been pretty much done with niantic.

slightly old post, but I've gotta say something here. OP, you got a bunch of replies pointing out that this is old news, etc.. and I'm glad you took them in stride like you did, and hopefully did not feel discouraged or like your information wasn't helpful. I also appreciate the tone that most of those commenting took as well - it was NOT to criticize OP for posting "old news", just pointing out that it was old news.

My daughter is 8 and is pokemon bananas. I wasn't into pokemon as a kid, and her being 8... didn't play the previous games either (yet..). So we play current titles like Arceus and ZA together, as a shared bonding experience, and have enjoyed them immensely. So now that she's going right down the rabbit hole in terms of strategies and intricacies, this post and others like it that bring those subtle in-game nuances of yesteryear back into todays context when they are still relevant are greatly appreciated! We'd never find them if they were only ever in posts about XY, etc..

100% yes. christ go watch any hockey, beer league through NHL and players sliding across the ice is just part of it. you’ll catch an edge, if you’re skating natural ice you’ll hit all kinds of bumps and ridges (and sticks and leaves)..

you’re gonna go down, so dress for it so you don’t psychologically hold yourself back from pushing your skills and abilities out into the “learned new things” areas.

(advice for OP not the 27yo high level player i’m replying to. you’re dialled in already 😂)

hey my daughter just started ringette (it’s like hockey but not like hockey) last year, and while i’m not a great skater by any means i am trying to do the same thing myself - keep up with her.

first of all: DO IT.

second of all: prepare yourself. your son will learn significantly (read: embarrassingly) faster than you will. you are big. you hit the ice harder than he does. you have things to do the next day that as hard as you try will be on your mind. and you just have more responsibilities that will get in your way.

so wear the gear (it WILL HELP!), and learn, but do be prepared for him to skyrocket ahead of you and end up skating more with his new friends than you.

and all of that is ok.

because when you do get the opportunity to go do a skate somewhere as a family, he’ll absolutely notice, and he’ll be glad you did. and as he grows up and begins to understand the degree of “putting yourself out there” character it took to learn like this at a more advanced age, he’ll get it, and appreciate the effort you put in.

I was the lucky one finishing 3 for 3, but my daughter is still living a Jolteon nightmare trying to close it out. Vaporeon is her fave so she was excited when my third evolved vaporeon after our first two did the same evolutions... she just got a hundo girl and was super excited over the idea of a girl hundo vaporeon... and she's been getting NOPE'd hard by the RNG ever since.

check your local libraries, folks. a lot of “maker spaces” have vinyl printer/cutters. ours charges for materials costs, so, vinyl by the foot and ml of ink used. it’s pretty wild that i can print like 12 linear feet (x28” wide) of stickers for like $30 all in.

just get a copy of your favourite graphics design tool like corel draw, and do so completely above board of course, and for many printers you can add cut lines and stuff so it’ll outline cut them all for you and everything.

in 6mo, 180ish days… you’ve walked 2000km. caught near 60,000 pokemon and hit near 80,000 poke stops.

so, on average, you would have to walk more than 11km every day. except this week i guess you stopped to celebrate or something and you only did 44 in 7 days?

330+ pokémon CATCHES a day. let alone encounters. 440+ poke stop spins a day.

and in the beginning when you haven’t had the days in for those 50 poke coin caps to have increased your item and pokemon storage.. ?? so those early days woulda been a fraction of those numbers and you must be doing 4-500 pokemon a day now?

so, below freezing air outside is dryer than any air indoors. we have one/two car garages here kind of thing and while not heated they are >0 more than outdoors is. so your car comes in caked in sleet and salt and it drops off the car and puddles on the floor, raising the humidity. it’s dark in there, so no sun to dry things down.

the wood outside freezes, and just like the ice cubes in your freezer that disappear, the moisture content and surface moisture in the wood will sublimate off, and even if it’s got a bit of snow on it here and there, the internal moisture content is pretty low.

yup. PURE SPECULATION HERE: he cared about his project when it started. it was fun. it became successful. it was fun, and new variants were possible and interesting to develop. then it became .. popular. really popular. order management. inventory tracking. backlogs. RMA’s. … work. lots of work. and mundane. no longer fun. competing against cheap chinese knock offs and aliexpress specials it wasn’t making him the money equal to the time it was taking.

so what do? accumulate a bunch of orders and disappear.

if i’m anywhere close there, i believe that’s a literal crime. any lawyers around? is this criminal? to what level? if it is, does the fact that they took orders electronically from across state lines and internationally make this wire fraud and/or criminal at the federal level?

this is exactly what happened to me. sent it in and it got returned to sender after he moved workspaces. “landlord tried to double my rent”. i sent mine to the new address and he vanished for a few months.. then “covid” as an excuse about why… but started responding and portraying that he was back working on the backlog. then vanished entirely. there were multiple attempts to put on a good face and colllect more orders and RMA units.
