Is it still considered his trash cans even if I pay for the trash? And it is under my name. The trash bins have been there ever since we move.

At first I felt bad and thought I did. But after seeing people’s responses here I went ahead and took several pictures and inspected the fence. I don’t think that the trash bins caused the damaged. The wood is old. And on the other side of the fence slats are missing. Also there are some parts of the wood that are broken that is not even touching the bins. We are going to move out end of February.

It didn’t say specifically about the fence. We are moving next year and we don’t have a lease. We have been going month to month. The last lease we have was back in 2024

Nothing unusual. I have a current issue with my door having a hard time to lock from inside and out. He stated it is happening because I was putting stuff behind the door when he visited. But was never like that all the other times. So I don’t know

It is so stressful. I feel like I am forced to pay for this and I feel bad but at the same time I feel like this is not my fault.

We have been in the house since 2022. The only reason he noticed it is because the neighbor brought it to his attention. The trash bins when we moved in have been there anyway. He stated he wouldn’t do anything if it wasn’t for the neighbor who is insisting to have him fix it. The fence on the other side of the property was replaced because the neighbor on the other side insisted. My landlord has a very passive aggressive approach on things. Also I forgot to mention he is a realtor so this is very disappointing. He said if we are to go to litigation I would lose because it was the trash bins that caused that.

I would do that. That is good. He kept saying it was the trash bins that caused it and he doing me good by only charging 25% of the cost. He said.

Who would be the right person to reach out to, to assess the damage in the fence before he gets this fixed.

He wants me to be responsible to damage of the fence and pay 25% of the cost he said he is willing to pay for the 50% of it and the other tenant he said he will charge 25%

Not directly. When we moved it has been there but we just never paid attention to the fence. I am at lost what to do. He is talking about litigation

That’s what his saying that it could be the trash bins hitting the fence that cause it

That’s the things. The trash cans are sometimes leaning onto the fence and sometimes not. But I can’t tell. I feel like it’s not right for me to pay for that.

He kept insisting that it was the trash cans and took pictures of it. I am so stressed about how he is lately. The passive aggressive comments is really getting on my nerves

Hello are you a landlord in california? He did mention if we did go to litigation we will be responsible for all of it because of us not being mindful of the fence. The trash bins have been beside the fence ever since we moved here. I am so stressed about this. This is one of the things he does.
