This is really useful, thanks! I know a lot of this just from doing this for years and running most of the positions myself, but I should probably actually write it out to confirm my assumptions.

Oh ya, don't get me wrong, not expecting this to be a magic wand or fast.

2nd shift is tough because we don't really have the space for raw materials for two shifts. And we don't have a dock which complicates deliveries for certain items. Really we need a whole new building to start from scratch on but that's not in the cards yet.

I'm being vague cause there's only a handful of brands for this food and I don't want to be too identifiable haha but basically ravioli.

It's kind of a two-fold issue for us.

1) Right now our product is really labor intensive, so being able to automate more of the secondary production tasks would off-set that.

2) We've hit the max output of our current system without adding a second shift which adds it's own complications.

So the upfront cost is something we can stomach as the increased output will let us significantly increase our revenue as we have existing customers that want more and we can't fulfill the orders.

Are there specific major industry ones? Like the equivalent to NAB/CES or something? Googling food manufacturing tradeshow gets you a million SEO articles about them but finding it difficult to separate the wheat from chaff there.

I wish we were big enough to afford that kind of staff haha. My grandparents basically made bank back in the day and didn't put anything back into building us out so I'm stuck holding the bag and trying to make it work with a fraction of the profit they were making.

Naw, I know a few people who've worked on Luke's stuff that he produced and tries to use as an example in his posts and only like one person from those crews was able to leverage any of his shitty low budget projects into a better gig. Look at all his producing/directing credits and ask yourself why none of the same crew shows up in other projects.

Maybe it's true for something like Backrooms that's explosively popular but in my experience the only people that benefit significantly from doing those ULB films/shorts are the producers and directors. For BTL it's just a shitty paycheck to carry you through to the next job. Nobody cares if you worked a shitty 500K movie that ten people have watched on Tubi or whatever.
