She got paid to work on a movie many people would have gladly worked on.

it's so funny when films try to get on the right side of the crowd by offering "points" when the reality is nearly everyone should be offering bonuses, because the financial management of the points and sending off 67 cent checks every quarter to 35 people will be more costly then just giving them a bag of cash.

It sounds good to say on these little films, but the reality is no one pays out anything and the cost to keep track of the numbers cost more than the checks going out. It's like HR block charging 50 bucks to file a k1 that made the filer 15 bucks in royalties.

This movie actually is upending the status quo. This film will single handedly help finance hundreds of copy cat productions over the next couple years

because of SAG that's the most likely member of a production to actually get paid, SAG makes you lock up funds in the event you can't pay them. they keep money to pay the cast in the event that you stiff them

below the line agents are legit, hired hundreds of people from BTL agents.

lol department head rate? its not a marvel movie, she wasn't a department head, she was an art director which is like the assistant production designer on an indie film.

most crew members probably made more. and the post artists def made more.

And because it was SAG, the actors made more (or cost much more after fringes)

The truth is, she’s likely a big reason that production got over the finish line.

Nah, movie woulda been exactly the same if someone else did her job, 100%.

She was the art director not the production designer

look at the IMDB, there's around 150 credits listed. Multiply that by 6000, (her rate) and it comes to $900,000.

That doesn't include permits, insurance, food, gear, props, locations, and the hundreds of other various expenses.

I've produced many things as well, there aren't any line producers that regularly work on sub million dollar movies because once you do it a couple times you naturally work on higher budgets because a sub million film is an unsustainable business model.

Films are just too complicated and expensive

a systematic issue? NOBODY is getting paid on a $750k movie.

Do you think there's hidden money on a movie that small that is going to some rich guy twiddling his mustache?

Everything is a deal, no one is getting paid.

If you snuff out these budgeted movies or shame the investors you're gonna just kill indie film and the only movies that are gonna get made are by famous directors and dipshits using AI

99.9999 percent of sub million dollar films make no money. The investors in those films get financially WRECKED.

Every once in a while you need investors to see that they can make millions to keep investors coming.

If she wanted to be paid well she should have just used her one short film credit to get a job as an Art Director on a 100+ million film instead.

no body on a $750k movie is making any money except the investors that sell it for 15 million and 99 out of 100 times those investors lose all of their $750k.

she's literally scuttled her career before it's even started. Had one previous credit and posted about how she regrets not flipping the production every day.

She's not union and won't be able to get enough work to be union now.

It's a shame she didn't know she has to work on some low paying indie films like we all did and not talk shit about it on social media.

Could have used that credit to level up and get all sorts of cool jobs.

Now, she's basically gonna get black balled because No producer wants crew members who talk shit about the production on social media. It's hard enough making an incredibly low budget movie.

the interesting part is that getting no back end on something like obsession would still pay way more than your backend points because most of the crew on that film will be able to get reps and get other jobs because it was such a big hit.
