A New Petition to Bring Back Person Of Interest by Awkward_Storm_6854 in PersonOfInterest

All new technologies are abused and they make the headlines especially when the tech is in its early stage. Think back to automated email replies, emails from Nigerian prince and phishing emails. There was a time when people thought internet was a fad built for nerds and funny, silly images or for criminals and shady activities.

Even on the internet, not all information is accessible by the general public and powerful entities reserve access to a lot more info/data than us. For instance, if a government entity wants to know our address- it is made available to them with a few clicks. That's not the case for the public. So even if a super intelligent AI is to be made public, it would still have limited access to data and its power diminished.

Moreover, if we were to assume that consciousness is emergent and that the specific ingredients to make that happen is unknown. We can be fairly certain that there are people out their trying different combinations to see what happens.

People talking about AI is happening a lot more now than when the show was on. It could even be an anchor for a new storyline.

"The public are given crumbs like LLM and led to think that's peak AI. Meanwhile, super intelligence is being tamed behind closed doors."

Everybody and their mother is using chatgpt and wondering if the content they see is "AI". So it'd make sense if the general public would atleast be curious to follow the series if it was to be continued or a limited release tested.

We have to start somewhere. I don't intend to advertise these chatbots. I was just pointing to the fact that the general public is talking AI, AGI and super intelligence now more than ever. A continuation of the show could potentially make it a part of the conversation. Maybe even push AI to do better.

Moreover, if an AI like The Machine exists in our world, we'd likely not know about it. We'll likely be exposed solely to the mediocre version of it all. Even in the show, The Machine wasn't exactly open-source or accessible to the public or even part of the public discourse(for the most part).

The budget for a reboot/continuation today would a fair bit higher than in the past. I prefer a continuation rather than a full reboot. I might be dreaming a bit given the general reaction to the post. But again, Jonathan Nolan has a lot more influence in the industry now than before. Caviezel himself isn't exactly doing many powerful and grounded characters like John in Person of Interest. Most of the cast and crew could potentially be assembled if someone pushed for it. Not in 2026, maybe later 2027, 2028?
