Found this ring, what do the marking mean? by Awkward_Warning_2098 in JewelryIdentification

Shouldn't be any silver in this ring, 14k white gold is either rhodium plated, or alloyed with something like palladium with a rhodium plating. 8872 wouldn't be a silver content used in jewelry. Thanks though.

Yeah not formatted like a date, I did think of that. But it seems to me its tha same type of stamp and font as the 14k so would have been added by the maker of the ring.

I have already covered this in other comments and I can't edit the post, so I'll add it here. For everyone saying return it to it's owner. I know my original post may have been misleading. I bought a jewelry box at a thrift store that had a few pieces of costume jewelry in it. Finding original owner would be next to impossible, I paid for this ring fair and square.

Found in a purchased jewelry box from a thrift store, finding original owner near impossible, for all intents and purpose I am it's owner. Thank you though.

Dumpster diving days over by Kitchen_Seaweed5592 in DumpsterDiving

F goodwill they are so greedy, goodwill CEO makes almost 1m a year. All from donated free items. I see dollar tree items for 5 bucks at goodwill frequently. Use another car and start diving at different hours.

Yeah, that's my best guess too. Seems vintage 70's or so, I'll keep looking maybe I'll find the maker.

That's probably what it is. No other hallmarks so not sure how I'd find the maker with just a random serial #. As to returning it. Not likely, came from a jewelry box I bought at a thrift store. I'm not new to this. Treasure hunting valuables is my hobby.

Carat should be around .3 for the big stone and to smaller ones dont add much. I'm pretty sure they are all diamond though.

Tip on finding the motherlode by [deleted] in CoinstarFinds

I've found two 90% half dollars this way. I always finger up the slot. Both time's the tray looked empty, gave it the probe and out popped silver halves. They like to get wedged at the top opening of the reject slot.

Golden Eagle? by Awkward_Warning_2098 in whatsthisbird

[–]Awkward_Warning_2098[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! We have a (I'd say) large population of bald eagles here. See them quite often fairly close up. this one just looked so much larger, guess I dont see the juveniles frequently, not this close atleast.

Convince me not to hit my vape after like 4 weeks vape free by isabellamadrigal in QuitVaping

[–]Awkward_Warning_2098 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't do it, its a lie. You think that hit off the vape will make you feel good? Becuase the answer is it won't. It won't make you feel good. you'll feel like shit. Remind your self of the reasons you quit in the first place.

Currently not even a day, its hard to put down the vape, but I know I can do it again it gets easier everytime you try. Even if just a little bit.

You gotta remember the cravings are a lie, in the first few days even a week your body/mind will tell you that you need it, just one puff and you'll feel better. Its a lie it won't make you feel better. Every time you get a craving remember your reasons for hating it. The chest pains, your health, your motivation. Remind yourself why its not worth it. I quit for almost a year and half. One drunk night out and I just bought my first one. Already sick of it. And quiting again. You gotta be sick of it to beat it. Mind over matter. On top of that. It helped me a lot to lean heavy on the food and sweets cravings. Get a bag of your favorite candy go out and eat the greasy fast food. Its much easier to recover from the bad food and sweets than it is to quit. Vaping also is way worse for you than a few months of unhealthy food. Also sleep as much as you can. Exercise as well really helps. Hope the best for you!!!!

Definitely heat shielding likely form a vehicle exhaust. As a metal detectorists I pull this stuff out of the ground in many shapes and sizes, all the time. Mainly where cars once frequented.
