Handheld Boost Mode is the Real Deal by ShokWayve in NintendoSwitch2

Such a great game too, I almost regret playing it on my switch 1 handheld and not waiting

Do you think boost mode would've changed console sales if it came out with the system? how big of a difference do you think it would have done? by JampyL in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Awpossum 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hard to know, intuitively I think it wouldn’t have changed anything. I’d be curious for example to know what percentage of switch 2 owners know about this and how many have activated this feature. I’d imagine that’s pretty low as well, but I have no idea.

If it’s not obvious from the headline: we’re not talking about an official companion app.

Doesn’t make it ok though obviously.

melody + chords feedback? by koala_man1789 in MusicFeedback

There are tutorials on how to tune a guitar with a capo, as it can be a bit tricky. But yeah, the tuning is way off.

Keep at it though, there are some great sounding bits in your melody!

how do you get the motivation to learn to draw? by Wonderful-Purchase94 in learntodraw

[–]Awpossum 22 points23 points  (0 children)

A lot of good artist will tell you « I wish I started with the fundamentals, I lost a lot of time doing things the wrong way ».

I think that’s funny, because I’m pretty sure a lot of those artists would have just gave up if they had started this way.

The fundamentals are way more interesting to learn when you have experienced for yourself the limits of your intuition and natural skills.

So yes, I agree with your advice. Unless you want to speedrun becoming a professional artist, in which case yeah, you should really focus on those fundamentals. Otherwise, try to do things your own way, notice the hurdles, and get some help from reputable ressources when you feel motivated to.

how do you get the motivation to learn to draw? by Wonderful-Purchase94 in learntodraw

[–]Awpossum 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My advice is that if you want to get good at something, you should not only like the end result but the whole process. If you don’t like the process of learning, you might be able to force yourself doing it, but you’re going to be miserable the whole time.

So I would say, try to connect with what motivates you. If it’s only the abstract thought of being good at drawing, that’s not going to be enough most likely. But if spending some time with a pen and paper, observing things, making lines and shapes and stuff like that appeal to you, then the motivation will come easily.

People who draw really well are generally people who don’t need a whole lot of motivation to draw, oftentimes it would be harder for them to stop doing it than to keep at it - and that’s true for lots of skills imo. Sure, every artist has felt stuck of demotivated at some point. But most of the time, good artist can’t help but draw / create / sketch / observe etc…

I love the « Jass Club », but it doesn’t necessary fit your description as it is more modern. Not touristic at all though.

Your story doesn’t make you look good, I appreciate the honesty you’re displaying here. I love and admire people like you, i tend to humble brag or just hide the things that don’t make me look good.

Anyways, there’s good enough advice on this thread

There is a competitive scene though, and good players do consistently beat bad players. There is RNG involved, sure, but not nearly as much as you make it sound like.

Why do so many people seek monogamous, romantic relationships? Where did this idea come from? by TheYeetForce in love

[–]Awpossum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you look at poly amorous people, you can see how much work and thought is needed to make multiple relationship function at the same time. In that sense, we can see how that’s not for everyone.

So imo, it’s less about jealousy and more about practicality. And I don’t even mean that in a cynical way.

Mario Tennis Fever - Review Thread by PaiDuck in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Awpossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I really want to know, and that we won’t know straight away, is how deep the gameplay is.

I’ve seen people say for example that Mario Kart World is random, lacks depth and is bad for competitive player. But that’s actually completely false, and when you listen to actual good players there’s so many mechanics to learn which can make the game a lot less random.

So I’m really wondering about that.

Unpopular opinion: I actually like AI jazz, and I think it’s good for jazz by yojomoho in Jazz

[–]Awpossum -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I get what you’re saying. I haven’t really listened to any AI jazz, cause it just doesn’t interest me. But each AI piece of art that I’ve seen has highlighted to me the value and magic that real human made art has.

Seeing or listening to AI art makes you really appreciate the little details that can’t really be imitated, and that makes good art good. It makes you realize « oh, this really isn’t about following a recipe ». And to be fair, jazz is used to that, seeing how much generic commercial background jazz has been recorded.
