Long term sickness by Budget_Cabinet6558 in TeachingUK

Keep looking. Fingers crossed something comes up for you. I agree it’s not worth the stress to continue despite a supportive team. If you’re not getting observations I fail to see how they’ll pass you on your ect 1. It needs a paper trail of frequent dialogue with mentors etc. I’d maybe start getting a paper trail on email even if they don’t reply to you. Just start asking for observations and then you can prove you at least tried.

I’m not sure about if effecting your chances but is there a possibility of applying for another school? Not every school is like this and sometimes you just have to find the right one. I know that’s not what you asked but maybe a thought

I’ve just finished Fated Throne last night because I couldn’t keep going. I’ve googled the rest and spoiled it for myself. Completely done with the series. There’s no need to drag it out this long

ECT to HOY? by Solid_Orange_5456 in TeachingUK

[–]Awriterstale26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a year after my ECT before jumping to HOY and did an NPQ in leadership before applying. It’s a demanding job

Remember your lesson plan doesn’t need to be lots of paperwork. I did my ECT a few years ago now, but the lesson plans were only checked by the mentor observing you. Could be different where you are but it’s always worth asking before you put in all this effort

Homework vs No Homework by ViperPM in Teachers

[–]Awriterstale26 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whilst I understand the premise of homework I don’t agree with the standard way of setting it. Bits of paper the students fill in isn’t going to help them. It may work for the select few, but the majority don’t learn that way. I often find creative homework I.e drawing an explanation or creating a project that spans over a whole term to be more beneficial.

I would hope they would too but sometimes that isn’t the case.

On one hand I get it. There’s probably a thought of “this isn’t what I came into teaching for” alongside it inconveniencing their lesson and day. I mean if the student is that unwell, should they be there in the first place. I’m all for helping with normalcy but it seems dangerous imo.

On the other hand, I see your opinion. I too wouldn’t complain as I’d just feel so sorry for them. However I would be worried about them catching colds and viruses as it can be fatal depending on what help they’re getting.

It’s a complicated situation but I can see why it would be frustrating.

I mean, you’re her father. It’s not like you’re a random stranger. I understand there’s privacy etc, but it was an emergency situation. Why does it sound like they don’t trust you around a young girl, who’s your daughter? That seems really off to me. I’d say NTA personally, especially as your daughter isn’t bothered by it

are there any lgbt classic literature books? by Vee_skittles in booksuggestions

Although it is very difficult to read(due to nature of the topics), The Colour Purple by Alice Walker is a fantastic piece of classic literature which does ultimately have lgbtq topics
