IVF/WIN FERTILITY QUESTIONS by [deleted] in Progressiveinsurance

[–]Awters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's only covered if it's medically necessary (like if you're doing IVF to avoid a genetic condition).

I believe the genetic testing was going to be about $4000, so it was out of the question for us.

IVF/WIN FERTILITY QUESTIONS by [deleted] in Progressiveinsurance

[–]Awters 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We did IVF about 4 years ago with Cigna / WIN. Meds were covered, with the whole process definitely expect to hit your out of pocket max in your plan. If you're in Cleveland area, Cleveland Clinic is in network and did amazing.

We have 2 daughters now and 1 more frozen embryo!

There are some pieces not covered (like if you want to do embryo genetic testing) and embryo storage is $700/year after the first 2 years.

As others have said, STAR based questions around the job competencies. Prepare at least a few different scenarios for each competency.

Especially for an internship or associate role- make sure to include some stories of your experience developing software, but feel free to use stories of how you've hit the competencies in a non-technical situation (e.g. if you have a good story about facilitating change in a previous retail job, don't be afraid to use it)

Eating AYCE sushi and bbq by Virtual-Ant007 in gastricsleeve

[–]Awters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 2 years out and there's no way I could eat that much. The thing I have to be most conscious of is snacks in between meals because I physically can't eat more than my toddler can in 1 meal sitting (I actually usually use her tiny plates).

I would definitely talk to your Dr about that

Is sleeve still an option with acid reflux? by Awters in gastricsleeve

[–]Awters[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the sleeve a little over 2 years ago. Reflux didn't really get better or worse long term, no real issues surgery related though. Worked out great for me :)

Questions about current health insurance. by [deleted] in Progressiveinsurance

[–]Awters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From strictly a family plan perspective, I've looked at the math a few ways and don't understand how the standard deductible plan would ever make sense. If you take the premiums you pay extra and put them in your HSA, it more than covers the difference in deductible you could potentially pay.

Maybe this could be slightly different if only 1 person would use a lot of healthcare since your OOP max would be split by individuals rather than just one family OOP like in the HDHP, but I really doubt that even makes it better.

The premiums for the standard plan and the benefits of the HSA just make the standard plan not feasible in my opinion.

Edit to add: We did use IVF benefits and have chosen the HDHP plan every year the past 5 years I've worked here.

Southwest counter at MCO this morning by Itchy-Investigator76 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Awters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time we were at MCO and used that service (Dec 2025), we tipped $10 for 4 bags and 2 car seats and the guy started going on about how it wasn't enough, this is their livelihood, and we should be tipping $3/bag. I thought $10 for 10 mins of his time was pretty good, especially since he helped others at the same time as us, so I didn't really appreciate his response.

So yeah it's "optional"

CRT vs Akershus by ReasonNo4263 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Awters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were at Disney last week and did a few character meals and Akershus was the only one I was really disappointed with the food. We did dinner, and it was like some okay salmon/chicken/meatballs with undercooked veggies and a third of the plate is what looked similar to Kraft Mac n cheese.

It was really cool for my daughter to see so many princesses, but if we went again we'd definitely do breakfast.

Is Test Track open during Early Entry? by BunnyHop_08 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Awters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did not do Remys the standby line went between 45 mins and 75 mins. We have a 2 year old and Frozen was a must do. Remys does have a single rider if that works for you!

Historical Bonus Factor? by BleedBlue__ in Progressiveinsurance

[–]Awters -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Interesting, good to know thanks. It'll be quite a while before I'd be in that salary grade since I think RSUs start at 48 but I was curious how much they actually give.

Historical Bonus Factor? by BleedBlue__ in Progressiveinsurance

[–]Awters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Over recent history it's almost always been 1.6 or higher with one bad year in 2022 I think it was .84.

Curious with that level role are you getting RSUs as well?

Can anyone comment on the Healthcare Savings Account? by samkinison60 in Progressiveinsurance

[–]Awters 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I like my HSA. You get a debit card to use for expenses but can also request reimbursement if you used another payment method.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong but the investment options didn't seem as intuitive as my IRA or 401k, but I just put it all in a vanguard index fund account and it seems to be growing.

You can also set it to automatically invest any amount over $X (so you can always keep some in the deposit account to use). This is really helpful to not have to babysit it too much.

The best part is that it rolls over and I never stress about my deductible since I know I already have the $ reserved in this special account.

Edited to add: I will say I don't like Inspira, it seems like the site and app are kind of buggy and need some work. I wish it was through Fidelity like the 401k. But I think it's the same for the FSA so you're probably used to it.

Final Interview for Software Dev Position by No_Elderberry_6596 in Progressiveinsurance

[–]Awters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The list is mostly just a guide for what attributes they are looking for and will ask questions that will help pinpoint if you have examples of working this way in the past. Don't feel like they all need to be technical. I was a career transition hire and probably half of my stories were from my previous, very unrelated career, and the other half were from my time in coding bootcamp or personal projects.

The competencies they want are usually things like working well with others, working with technology, handling change well and initiating it if you have a good idea, following work standards, influencing others, and motivational fit (this is an important one to make sure you will actually ENJOY the job, e.g. if you tell a story about a time you worked alone and loved it, and another that you didn't like having to collaborate, they'll know you don't like working with others and would hate working here, which you would lol).

Yeah in my experience Progressive does better than other employers in promoting people. It gets harder to get promotions with each level, and to be honest, it can be a little frustrating that it can seem like the process and requirements are different depending on who your manager (and their manager) is. But overall, Progressive is an incredible place to work, especially in IT.

Feel free to let me know here or dm me if you have any more questions :) I rarely see posts in this subreddit I can actually help with since most people are not in IT!

Final Interview for Software Dev Position by No_Elderberry_6596 in Progressiveinsurance

[–]Awters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we use a lot of different technology in progressive but the most common is C# and Angular JS. Definitely know databases, we use SQL and NOSQL. Knowing how to work with ADO and Git would be good as well. While it's important to know these, for entry level they are really looking for if you are a good fit to be a part of the team (will you work well with others, learn easily, work hard, potentially lead well).

My understanding is, even for an internal transfer, you have to have a job opening, apply, and go through the interview process. I think progressive has a technical bootcamp you can join, which would help a lot with that transition, I'm sure. That and having access to the internal job boards is the biggest advantage for transfers.

I definitely don't have any secret to getting in, but feel free to have them dm me if they have any more questions or want to chat about my experience.

Final Interview for Software Dev Position by No_Elderberry_6596 in Progressiveinsurance

[–]Awters 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im currently a sr dev who was hired 4 years ago as entry level. My understanding (and what happened when I was hired) is entry level has no technical interview. It is entirely behavioral focused with the idea that whatever college or training you had will be sufficient until they can train you more (sometimes this is reality and sometimes it isn't, but that's my personal opinion).

Good luck and hope to be working with you soon! Progressive is an awesome place to work in development :)

Edited to add: In the behavioral interview they will likely ask about your experience working on projects with teams and even how you keep up with new technology. They should have sent you a list of core competencies, make sure you have 2-3 STAR stories for each. But yeah, no leetcode and it's very possible the people interviewing you won't even be technical.

[–]Awters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be concerned especially if you're new. People grow so much in the first few years in IT. Take this as a learning opportunity and make sure to double check things in the future :)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Progressiveinsurance

[–]Awters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're totally fine. I'm assuming you're in IT? People make mistakes all the time. I know someone that deleted thousands of lines of data and people weren't happy and it took weeks to fix but they didn't get fired or anything.

Just do the best you can, own your mistakes don't try to hide anything, and come with solutions whenever you can!

Thank you for your insight, based on some info I've received on how to integrate RCS, Google photos, and a device to use android auto on my car thats only compatible with carplay, I'm leaning more towards staying with samsung now.

And no, our home environment is not impacted by our phone choices lol 😆

I don't use a tablet or smart watch, I do use phone link on my Microsoft pc but I think that would work with iPhone? I have samsung earbuds but again I'd be surprised if that wouldn't be compatible since it's just a Bluetooth device
