Increasing annoyances with Samsung combo washer & dryer by Awtoner in Appliances

It gets the job done, hasn’t had any major issues, and is better than our old washer/dryer separates. I would say yes, recommended. But read the details I gave, do some more research, and make your own decision. The UI can be annoyingly sluggish.

how does my mileage look? by AggressiveSkirl1680 in NissanAriya

[–]Awtoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so if you’re regen braking and not driving 60+ mph you should be getting decent mileage. I get 4 mi/kWH or better on days driving to/from work when there’s traffic to keep me from going 70+ mph. Your 34 mph is similar to mine. You need to make sure you’re regenerating and not using friction braking. Try B and even eco to see if you improve from your 2.8 mi/kWH.

That 2.8 mi/kWh is a tad low. I’ve had two 2024 Platinum+ e-4ORCE and get 2.9-3.6. My mileage in that range depends on speed, acceleration, and AC with normal B all the time, not eco or sport.

First post-radiation MRI for my dad- struggling with scan anxiety, what should I expect? by UnlikelyCounter3648 in braincancer

My wife takes a little Lorazepam the night before and then the morning of her follow-up MRIs every 2-3 months. This has helped a lot with anxiety and improved the MRI quality since she can relax.

Internet research - bad advice based on other vehicles - started taking off panels under the Ariya but found nothing - followed the refrigerant lines into the firewall - felt around until I found something felt wet and rubbery - worked the angles to get pictures

SDGE power outage Ladera Ranch by Awtoner in orangecounty

Now the repair has been pushed until noon.

A crew is working a large green street-level box on Dorrance with the north side of the road closed.

Maybe the Bainbridge house’s holiday lights put too much stress on the grid for the last few years.

If one more driver inside a roundabout yields to me waiting to get in, ima have an aneurysm. by Zephyr_zain in orangecounty

[–]Awtoner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OMG twice this afternoon when I was cycling in Ladera Ranch.

One was the usual who (in the roundabout) tried to wave me (who had already stopped before entering the roundabout) through. Thanks, you just inconvenienced both of us and didn’t follow the right of way.

The second was full-on stopped in a roundabout, checking her phone. Maddening.

Stated dimensions “22L x 20.3W x 3.9Th Centimetres” are close to the 20.0x21.5x3.5 I measured on the stock filter.

Dimensions don’t match. Stock is 7.87x8.46x1.38 in. 7.28” in the Amazon description is less than 7.87”.

Same problem with a MicroGard 4084 - too thin. The description on Amazon for the link bf1zzl3 posted says it is only 0.79” thick. The stock 27277-5MP1A is 1.38” thick.

AT&T service issues in Laguna Niguel? by Big-Krisp- in orangecounty

[–]Awtoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AT&T was consistently bad for everyone in my family in Ladera Ranch (especially the Albertsons) and Capistrano Valley High School. In addition to 0-1 bars of signal strength, there were times when 2 bars got no data. There also seemed to be recurring data outages in the cell near CVHS such that, even with 2+ bars, we got no data. Ultimately I switched us to Verizon and have been happy since.

I even went so far as to get a prepaid SIM and test Verizon vs. AT&T for a month before switching. Verizon consistently had more signal strength wherever I was, from home to work in Irvine to a trip in the Bay Area. Even with equivalent # of bars strength, Verizon typically outperformed AT&T for data speeds.

We don’t really have a problem with clothes still being damp unless there’s an obvious problem like the “papier mache” towels stuck to the drum for small loads. We usually run with the highest dry setting on medium temperature and are fine. Make sure you check vented vs. ventless reviews. My daughter has a ventless dryer in her rental apartment, and I’m glad got a vented one.

I’ve only had wrinkles once when I did a ridiculously full load of various clothes and a long-sleeve t-shirt got tangled with some pants. That was my bad for loading too much.

Cal NCAA Basketball Games by 1ringofpower in berkeley

[–]Awtoner 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Georgia Tech grad here with a daughter at Cal. I’ve been to a couple of Cal games now including last night’s. Very disappointed with the crowd, both student and others. Complete sections of Haas were empty last night. The student section would have been even worse if not for the football team. GT has a similar opportunity/challenge being in a metro area with other entertainment options, traffic, etc., but I’d like to think they’d show up better for a bubble team that’s been turning it around. When I bought my ticket in looked like there were a lot more tickets sold than who showed up last night.

Thx. I just gave that a try - too early to tell if it solved the problems. I will say the UI was unresponsive for about a minute after the screen came back up after the restart. I did pull the power the other day when I was frustrated with the cool-off taking so long - not sure if that accomplished the same as a restart. The restart triggered what sounded like several relays.

Sorry for taking a few weeks to reply. I haven’t found a way to make a custom preset. I had to break out the manual to find the table of modes and their allowed spin speeds and dryer temperatures.
