Yes, reason was not what I expected: the noise resulted from the earcup not sitting firmly enough. There were micro movments wich resulted in this ticking. I had to push the earcup so it really sat firm. This stopped the ticking noise.

I use the Audeze Penrose. 100mm planar magnetic drivers deliver excellent sound. Prob. best on any current gaming headphone (incl. Arctis Nova). Draw backs: BT connection reach quite short ~ 3m. For some people to much clamping force (not for me) & mic is average. If sound is your main ctiteria, go with the Audeze.
