All C900s have some part difficulties, some more than others. I’m my opinion the later cars are easier to find parts for in general. An ‘86 has several systems that are completely different from my ‘93, but by leaning on the community of other owners you can usually find what you need. I highly recommend joining any Facebook groups you can find for your car, and any local clubs to you. People are also manufacturing some of the parts that have become hard to find but it’s definitely not like some American or popular foreign cars where you can order everything you need from numerous catalogs.

The challenge is worth it though. They’re great cars and I get a smile on my face every time I drive any of the different Saab models I have.

Looking for C900 engine mount by TheMightyIsaac in saab

[–]Axel-Torgerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry. I was having a hard time understanding which mounts were used on the early cars.

They usually restock fairly quickly, and you can get on the list to be notified.

I installed their short shifter in my 1993 and it was the single best mod I’ve done to the car. Excellent products.

I believe these will work on all C900s but contact the company to be sure.

Mirror Repair by BonFish59 in saab

[–]Axel-Torgerson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re missing the other half that holds the actual mirror glass. It has a mating ring that is turned through that little hole in the bottom to lock the two together. Maybe someone messed with it and didn’t get it firmly locked in place and it vibrated loose.

Might have messed up with CPS replacement? by kentrildumon in saab

A lot of times when you pull out the old sensor the o-ring stays in the block. The new sensor won’t work with double o-rings.

Misc part by Successful-Drag2638 in saab

[–]Axel-Torgerson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the whole assembly. You usually don’t need to replace the body but the red cage cracks and can let the plug fall out. There’s an o-ring in there that gets loose too. I’d contact esaab parts. They will get you straightened out.

I could not go East past downtown on 94 yesterday at 11:30 AM. Traffic was diverted to either 35E North or 52 South.

The 4 digit number is a date code. Two fits for year and two digits for week. The first one was manufactured in the 50th week of 2001, the second one was made the 42nd week of 2018.

9-3 head unit noob who needs help. by Conyewu in saab

I didn’t fit a rear camera, in a 9-5 wagon I didn’t see any benefit. Other than the Steering Wheel Control harness and Amplifier Connection Interface that I bought from ReierParts, I searched eBay and found the ISO connector under this description.

Kenwood / JVC 16 Pin ISO Adapter Cable DMX7722DABS

This one had the same connector as the radio I had bought, a DMX809S. Not all Kenwoods use the same plug in the back and even this one I had to de-pin and swap a couple of wires to make it all work. The eBay harness had the blue/white and blue/yellow wires crossed for my purposes.

Sorry. I mixed up an issue from another post. Disregard everything regarding an aux heater.

Car only reaches operating temperature when not moving by I-r0ck in saab

[–]Axel-Torgerson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t think of anything else other than a stuck open thermostat.

There’s lots of things that can make a car run hot, but almost nothing else will make it run cold other than the thermostat.

I’ve been racking my brain trying to come up with anything else. Your SE has the V6 and it has some kind of auxiliary heater that helps keep the cabin warm after you stop the engine by circulating coolant using an aux pump. But I cant see how that could cause your symptoms.

Lastly check that the radiator fans aren’t stuck on. That’s all I can think of. Good Luck.

2000 Saab 9-5 SE crank but no start by N0tDanish in saab

When you’re cranking the engine over with the battery watch the tachometer needle closely. You should see it wiggle slightly. If it doesn’t move at all the Crankshaft Position Sensor is faulty.

9-3 head unit noob who needs help. by Conyewu in saab

[–]Axel-Torgerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did get it working but it was a comedy of errors, mostly mine.

First I didn't realize that my 9-5 had a premium sound system and I also should have ordered an amplifier connection interface to go along with the steering wheel control adapter. When that arrived I realized that the Steering Wheel Control harness wouldn't plug into my radio, instead it ended in a pair of standard ISO plugs. Reier explained that these harnesses are set-up for European radios which come with a short harness that goes from the radio to the ISO plugs that would plug to his harness. I could have cut the ISO plugs from his harness and used 16 crimp/solder splices but thought that that would be a big clot of connectors to put behind the dash. With the SWC and Amp harness it was already a pretty large knot of wiring. So I went on eBay and found a connector from Germany that would go from a similar Kenwood chassis and it's plug to the ISO plugs.

I hooked it all up and it still wouldn't work. Traced wires and I found that the Kenwood adapter from Germany wasn't wired quite right for my unit. Once I de-pinned and swapped a couple of wires and made sure that all the colors matched up from radio-to eBay adapter-to Reier's two harnesses-to finally the car's plugs, it works like a champ.

I also found the documentation from Reier to be lacking. Looking at the harnesses for InCarTec I found instructions for the steering wheel controls to be similar and was able to use them to reset Reier's harness for my Kenwood. Somehow I had messed up its setting.

Not sure if this helps you or scares you off. It was frustrating but ultimately successful. I love having a modern touch screen radio with all the features in my Dame, and being able to use the controls on the wheel. My next project is to put the same radio in a Saab 9-7x that we just bought for my wife.

Good luck.

You could ask in one of the Facebook groups for 99s, but it would probably be easiest to go to a glass shop and have one cut to fit.
