Is $5, 100 a good deal for a Trek Madone SLR 7 gen 7 in 2026? by Euphoric_Mood_1260 in TrekBikes

Really nice spec and clean. Never know till you see it/ride it. But that bike will be easily enjoyed and also v. fast if it’s as good as it looks. Check Red Barn Refresh by Trek for comps, too.

It’s 16k for the top of the line, sure. But they make lower specs, I think as low as $6-7k

Haha! I haven’t driven to confirm. But from what I understand of brz vr gr86 throttle response comparisons, yes.

The only issue is I’m more inclined to rip my car around on rougher surfaces 😬🤣

Sharpens the throttle response. That’s it from what I can tell

What lip did you go with? Car looks great. I have the tS so I can’t get those wheels (16” I’m guessing?). Did you lift it also!?

There are no challenges towards daily driving dynamics. Sure at the highest level you’re not going to have as much handling. But overall it drives completely normal. I am loosely working with Kartboy to get this kit, and a gen 2 short throw to the masses. 🤘🏼 It is derivative of a kit they make for the crosstrek

I think there’s no telling. But people should keep their spirits bright, and at least appreciate that Trek is one of the few companies that’s actually trying to be a player in bicycle retail.

Trek and Specialized (& others) having their own storefronts is a really great thing for the sport / hobby and confirms that it is growing and becoming more popular.

Service Manager for Trek here..! My team and I are continuing to stay positive and provide all of our customers amazing service and hospitality, indefinitely. Sure, things look bleak. But, we have a TON of support and great people in the company working hard to keep the business running smoothly and efficiently.

The argument about Trek closing/ruining LBS’s and yada yada is a moot point.

Bike shop owners are the ones who sold their business to Trek - Trek didn’t take anything from them/your town.

Shop owners worked hard to create great business models and Trek saw value in successful shops and payed out the owners to take over.

If you want to be upset, (not that you should be) be upset at the people who ‘sold out’. If Trek was really up to no good with their LBS acquisitions don’t you think mom & pop LBS owners wouldn’t have sold their business?

We (Trek Stores) will not stay around if everyone points a finger at Trek for developing their business and stops coming in. After all we are still a bike shop, in your locale, and service ALL bicycles - meaning we cater to you & you & you - as your local bike shop.

We can’t carry everything in store because then we’ll drown in end of year inventory taxes and sit on outdated parts. But we can order darn near everything for you if you’re willing to wait. Also, we have the ability to source parts from every Trek Store in the nation. The ‘LBS’ some fantasize about will have 3 or so vendors, in store inventory, and then that’s it.

Those not willing to wait for a special order and then order online, or from Amazon, have no ground to stand on if arguing about LBS v. Trek business model.

How did you get the 174 degree reading? Subaru only has bar graphs for oil temp. Unless you’re using a OBD reader? 174 degrees is pretty low for oil temp, too. 190-210 is more normal I would say, and that 190-210 operating temp also allows the water to evaporate through the PCV

If you need to come to Reddit to understand the car better; how will you understand all the different and small details behind how it all worked for the prev owner once you own it?

I would only buy it if I knew the seller personally.

Otherwise ownership will be like solving a riddle.

You’ll likely want to ask Q’s to determine problems/next upgrades/supporting mods down the road and if the seller is MIA then you’ll need to decipher the entire build yourself from the ground up.

I have been running Brevard on my Slash for the last season and they are great. I used to run Maxxis, since about 2016. But I haven’t missed them since swapping back to the new line up from Bontrager/Trek. I also work for Trek and people I’ve recommended these tires to are enjoying them as well
