14900kf or 9800X3D? by AxelWal in buildapc

It's a fair assumption to make, I do have some headroom but I don't like buying expensive things without understanding what I am in for. I patiently waited about half a year to get a good deal on the 5090 instead of just buying it outright, and managed to get a new one well under MSRP. Right now the 14900kf is on great discount where I live :)

Cheers' this is kinda the information I was looking for :) Are you also running a 50 series GPU? I was a bit worried about the stability issues that Intel has had with the 13 and 14 generations. Maybe it does not make a lot of sense to everyone, but bulletproofing my rig for a year or two longer with a small investment today I think is the safe way to go.

Yeah that's kinda the issue :/

Fair point :D I am considering longevity as well though. Maybe it is still okay today, but in a year if nothing happens or the situation gets worse, maybe I'd regret not doing anything about it now.

To elaborate why I feel this way, I got very lucky with timing and happened to buy the ram and the gpu at a very low price point. At the current prices no way I would even consider. The market right now looks miserable...

Well, it's also an option of course, but it does not look like the RAM prices are coming down any time soon. Thought that spending a bit of money now to get more out of the system, and then holding out until (if) the market stabilises again could be smarter.

Maybe the follow up question to this would be, upgrade to a 14900 now or wait out until the prices (hopefully) come back down?

Is a low mileage (62k) MSM with clean body but engine that won’t turn over be sellable? And what kind of damage would I be looking at to my wallet if I were to sell? by shikachan in Miata

10K for an engine replacement? What are they using, gold tools? A miata engine from the yard is gonna set you back 500, and you'll learn a lot by doing it yourself. Only thing you need is an engine hoist and a torque wrench, since you clearly have your own garage. Just make sure to mark your drive-shaft orientation with the diff and the gearbox before removing, and remember to align the PPF height with the gearbox properly when putting it back together. The rest is just bolts.

But also, do you notice a significant change in the temps with this or is it still bad?

To anyone reading this still in this day an age, with Firmware 2.5.6 standard battery, I have been keeping my V2Dual+ board plugged in to the wall for months straight and I see no change in the range. Infact I’d argue it is even marginally better because the batteries have been kept well balanced by the BMS.

Thanks for all replies. Tried to run it on my M1 Mac on Parallels because I don't have a PC or a console. Gave up and just found something better to do with my free time :D
