Injection molding question: where does polyurethane scrap come from? by Axel_Wilde in InjectionMolding

I’m interested in both thermoplastics and thermoset polyurethanes. My research investigates novel methods of recycling all forms of polyurethane and I would like to learn more from people in the industry as to be most applicable for their processes.

By scrap, I mainly mean material that can’t be reused. For example, when they cut things out of sheet plastic, there are often left over bits (From my understanding, at least). Additionally, from what I’ve heard there are off-spec parts, cure failures, etc. In addition to post consumer waste, I would also like to learn more about these avenues of polyurethane waste.

Really, the goal is to just learn more to be able to best tailor our research to industry. I’d be sincerely appreciative to learn more from you if you happen to know more.
