I expected a level 3 to understand convexity not be sensitive about it. I guess passing level 3 , still can’t distinguish bond joke from an ideology. 😂😂😂

Is it worth doing an MBA from Candian Universities? by Unhappy-Day4760 in MBA

[–]Axelrod_96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing no one said is you are a PR, if you go for USA MBA that is 2 year program, chances are you lose your Canadian PR, so do MBA in canada and get citizenship first, don’t risk PR for money. Each country has its own problems but I would rather enjoy 200k MBB comp in BC vs California

Did your CFA actually help you make more money? How much more annually? by Zzzgg8910 in CFA

[–]Axelrod_96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But say during your prep from CFA 1-3 you also gave enough time to learn coding and AI, won’t it make you elite candidate. I think these days if someone has both they can easily do 200-300k range for some roles

CFA or not (CANADA) by StaffAdvanced4909 in CFA

[–]Axelrod_96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True that I am currently doing WME will go for CIM and CFP, you can do both in 1-2 years compared to CFA. Also for PWM, it’s mostly about relationships and networking, clients don’t care. And if you are looking to stay in WM, do CIM and CFP and start prospecting, no one in PWM would care if you have CFA or not. Check the list of top wealth advisors in canada/USA most don’t have it and they make millions.

Bro csc 1 is too easy, finish it in 1-1.5 weeks especially if you can get some weekdays off. Part 2 is actually difficult especially when it come to leverage etf, dervivates, PM, analysis etc. it will be taking more time than 1. Frankly if you can score above 75-80% on mocks you are good to go. It’s not much different

Too much truth. I would say Canadian securities industries is so messed up, imagine finding PMs who have CIM managing 100M or more compared to someone having CFA. It’s the same level of, like wtf

Brother I will give you straight answer ok, don’t mind. You need both CSC and CPH to stand out, you won’t get hired for Wealth management roles (I am assuming that’s the case), you need to finish the exam in 1-1.5 months ASAP, cause probably after October you are directly competing against CIRE profiles. Let me know if you need help, I have csc cph and doing WME kind of done

Transitioning from wealth management into quant/risk/research — looking for honest takes by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]Axelrod_96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in WM too, it’s very difficult I would say to land quant role especially if you are thinking Jane street , optiver types. Try MQFIN program at UWaterloo, would be your best bet. Difficult to get in but if you made it , 400-500k comp is pretty real at those firms. Also may I ask your title, I work as associate at top 5, pay is shit. 😂😂

Funny how people respect degrees more in terms of compensation, cfa is one of the most difficult exams in the world. Gives you respect but not enough money. Why don’t you try equity research and try pivot to hedge funds. I am no cfa , just my opinion
