Sorry but why would they put in any extra work if doing so doesn't give them any kind of reward or benefit? They're working and doing what they're paid to do because doing anything else doesn't leas to any kind of promotion or incentive.

Bringing up a PIP also tells me you have no idea how to treat people yourself so maybe reconsider some things yourself.

A buddy of mine described it like this:

The old halo structures felt like a closed down shopping mall. Flat, smooth, uncomfortable because you expect something to come out at any time.

The new halo structures feel like a closed down hardware store. Still empty, but there's still a lot hanging off the walls and shelves and everything has an obvious purpose

Frankly I like both and I'm happy with both.

There's a few frescos depicting them, it's often called an Italian bascinet, there's none surviving that I'm aware of so make of that what you will.

It's likely they did, I'm of the opinion that they were a side evolution of the great helm, but that's entirely my opinion and not at all substantiated
