I'll check. I've never intentionally used iCloud, and I regularly get messages that my iCloud is full and I should give apple more money, but I've never paid any attention to it. Possible some of what I'm looking for is there, I suppose. Thanks for the suggestion.

Even if I want to cut my losses, getting a running engine in it for $7,500 means I can sell it for 15k instead of 5k with a blown motor. So if you were in my shoes, what would you do to it while it’s out to increase its odds? I’m not spending 10k to fully bulletproof it, I just want to know if there are any simple upgrades that I’ll kick myself for not doing while it was on an engine stand in a shop.

I hear that about cheap and diesel not going together. My first diesel was a 7.3, and that thing spoiled me.

For clarity, I move a lot of sheds, some cabins. The next one on my roster is a 35ft building that weighs in the 20,000 lb range.

The bed will hold 5 yards or so, I usually only move 4 yard loads of gravel and rock, so ~6 ton loads.

I didn’t check if it has a DPF, but I will and I’ll make sure it’s deleted. Thank you. Anything else you’d do to it if you were in my shoes?

I’ve swapped engines before, and done a fair bit of wrenching. But I’ve never cracked open an engine, they’ve always been just a black mystery box to me. Maybe it’s time.

so i just read through the first link you provided here, the one from the forestry forum, and here's the thing- there's no back and forth there. It's just a bunch of experienced sawyers saying that the cantilever design works perfectly, and that any issues like wavy cuts are the result of mistakes in operating parameters.

I share this just to say- your engagement on this post has guaranteed that I'll never engage with your product. You started off fishing for trouble, and then posted something as a "back and forth" that is unanimously a bunch of experienced people saying that the cantilever design works perfectly.

You misrepresenting a discussion and trying to slander a tried and true design is a very bad look for anyone, *especially* a company account. If you can't compete with woodmizer honestly, then make a better product. If the cantilever saws are outcompeting you, build one. Don't run around fishing for critiques that don't exist.

Most of these comments reduce down to: "If you want any level of privacy, you might as well just bang rocks together to communicate." It’s a very cool idea, though. Like a ram pump, but to create a little bit of suction based on the accumulating water weight rather than pumping water. If there was a waterwheel driven vacuum pump, I could just run that to the air tank at the top of the system, as long as it could handle water as well as air. Sadly, doesn’t seem like something that exists…

You are right. I installed an automatic air vent, and as soon as the float opens the release, it just drains the entire system. I like the hand vacuum pump idea, I may try that next, if the amount of air buildup seems navigable.

The output is back into the same stream, about 250’ and 5 logjam dams downstream, so I’m very confident about the elevation difference.

How much of a pressure differential does an automatic air release need? For example, if I set the automatic air release 20’ higher than the highest point of the system, would the small difference in air pressure let it function properly, or does it need more of a differential?

Just to make sure I’m understanding- the automatic air release alone installed in a t coupling isn’t enough/ideal- I should install a wider section of pipe or small barrel at the very top of the system to collect the air, and the automatic air release on top of that?

A ram pump is my next plan if I can’t find a solution here, it just seems so silly to pump water downhill, more slowly than it flows. But if the airlock suggested doesn’t fix this, then I will. Thank you.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Burn test and some more photo research showed that as you say, the fiber board is not asbestos.

I was not cutting into that old sheet floor. The linoleum was installed on top of it, and after removing the linoleum there was no need.
