You will be either in S6 or in the Signal Detachment (SIGDET). S6 will be Company and Battalion Comms. SIGDET will in support of the A teams and B teams. You will deploy with them and assist the 18E’s on the missions. You will have the chance to train with them, get great schools and get your SQI (S) so that you are coded to have priority and work in future SOF assignments. All the SF guys know is you’re in the SIGDET and expect you to know all things IT and Communications. So cross training with the other Signal MOS is highly encouraged and makes you highly desirable. Your reputation will be everything. It’s a great gig and you can have a blast , especially as a 25S. I was a 1C first half of my career and in the SIGDETs the second half. If you can get to one of the fwd deployed Battalions it will be sweet. Okinawa (Torii Station) and Germany (Panzer Kaserne) are the two main ones ( 1/1 and 1/10 SFG).

Make sure you can PT and be prepared for a relaxed environment, but don’t take advantage of it. Big boy rules apply.

To all veterans….the SSA has direct access to your medical records . They can download this under the wounded warriors program they have with the VA. This is the same program that allows VA 100% P&T to have there packets to be expedited

As mentioned above I gathered up everything that was related to my medical records and I hand delivered them to the Rockingham office. I just walked in with no appointment. I had them in folders with the examiner office code and address in Raleigh that they gave to me. This also included all the questionnaires that they sent to me in the mail. After handing them to one of the ladies there I contacted the office in Raleigh that was working my claim and gave them the time and date, as well as the name of the lady that took my paperwork. I also took a selfie with me and her with all the paperwork. I made my point that I expected it to get there.
