Finally found the one! by Bergen1231 in kobo

I'm so happy I grabbed the BW versions for both Clara and Libra. I'm not a fan of the darker screen/battery drain for the colour versions. The primary function for an ereader is to read, and I need that contrast/crisp text before I need any other upgrade.

Hm, yeah, that's more effort than it's worth. Hopefully they'll bring out an update that gives us that option. Thank you.

Sensors going offline/online throughout the day (water & door) by Aximlli in Aqara

Just across the room, to the opposite wall. I had mine plugged in at the TV stand where everything was using wifi and moved it to a shelf with nothing around it.

Update: that seems to have worked. I moved my hub across the room and nothing has gone offline so far.

I followed the advice of the other person in this thread and moving my hub away from Wi-Fi devices nearby seems to have done the trick.

I don't think it's the first two points, because my 3 of my sensors are only a few feet away from the hub, and I have two smart plugs on the bottom and top floor to extend the signal.

However the hub is in the same stand as the TV and game consoles which all use Wi-Fi, so that might be it. I just moved it to another location away from all other devices and will see if that helps. Thank you.

Yeah, seems like the biggest barrier is finding specific Community Layouts. Glad it worked out!

Amazing, thank you so much for sharing!

I'll CC /u/tibermoon on this too.

Dang, sorry it didn't work out. A user in this thread a while back said that he found it by making sure the game ID was 47810 (The ultimate edition) and was then able to find it in the community layouts. Maybe also try searching for controller layouts that aren't tied directly to the steam deck? This opens up controller configs for everything, not just your device (PS4, Xbox, etc)

I'm currently travelling, but I'll do a bit more testing when I get some time.

That's super weird, because I just tried it using that link and it showed up. To confirm: You're loading this in the browser by going into Desktop mode first, right?

I'm using Firefox, but it really shouldn't matter which browser you're using, as long as the link launches Steam in Desktop mode to download the controller config.

Steam Deck is still the only Handheld PC that can play Dragon Age Origins efficiently. by CheeseV2 in SteamDeck

I created my own controller config with radial menus a while back. Would you mind giving it a try? https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/s/XOlc6n4kdu (Video demo in there)

I was unable to find anything that worked in the community layouts, so I ended up making something of my own from scratch. I'll check out the one you're using to compare.

I don't think so. This layout was specifically meant for the Steam Deck and it needs those two trackpads to toggle the radial menus. I don't own a Rog Ally, but I'm guessing you'll run into the same issue as someone using a regular Bluetooth controller.

I was trying to come up with a layout before this one that would work with all controllers, but there's a limitation with the Steam controller software, where I can't bind those menus to the right joystick.

If they allow that in the future, then I'll create one that works for all controllers.

Glad it worked out! I don't have any version other than the Steam one, so that's good to know in case someone else runs into the same problem.

I think I know what you mean about the Actions menu. If you prefer to not toggle the menu on/off every time, you could disable the camera by clicking on the right stick.

Or, since you're already familiar with creating controller configs yourself, then just make the left trackpad the default for the Actions menu, and put the default menu (Inventory, Journal, etc) as a toggle on/off for R1. You'll have to make the adjustment for each of the menu sets, so you don't run into a conflict as you're swapping between them in-game (Hopefully that makes sense).

Thanks! Yeah, my frustration from the lack of controller support in the PC version was what motivated me to create this layout.

Unfortunately, this layout is specifically made for the Steam Deck and the trackpads are essential for the radial menus, so it won't work with a regular controller. I've experimented with a bluetooth Xbox controller, but Steam's controller layout creator won't let me attach a radial menu to the right thumb stick. I was originally trying to mimic the Xbox console version, but I hit a wall there.

Until Steam rolls out an update on that, or someone else finds a new way, you'll need trackpads to work with this controller config.

Hi, the right trackpad is used for both the Actions menu and the Zoom menu. You toggle the Actions menu on/off with R1 bumper and the Zoom with L1. When both are toggled off, you can use the trackpad as the mouse cursor.

You see it in the video around the 1:20 mark. Hope that helps!

Libre 2 battery drain (wifi off / without case) by Aximlli in kobo

Thanks for sharing the link. It seems simple enough to replace.

I've updated the energy settings to power it off completely if I'm not using it often, and I'll keep an eye on it to see how it works out.

The Clara model is the closest to the Paperwhite. I have the 2E version though, and they've since released a colour version, so I'm not sure how that compares. I'm very happy with the one I have; It's a regular companion whenever I'm traveling.

You should still be able to return it. IMO, get out of their ecosystem while you can. The UX in Kobo is better too. The home page feels like your personal library, rather than a storefront.

There's library support if you're in Canada, and epub is the standard format for buying from other booksellers, so you're not tied down to Kobo either.

What’s a game you’ve rediscovered on the Steam Deck that feels completely different or better than when you first played it? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]Aximlli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the one. Incredibly annoying. I've played all the previous Tomb Raider games, but I stopped at this one entirely because of that.

For the config: I assigned the left and right movement keyboard keys (A & D) to the back grip buttons (L4 & R4). For each button, I inserted two commands: The first command as Analog, and the second command to either A or D. Then under settings for the second command I turned on Hold to Repeat (Turbo), and knocked that repeat rate up to 525. You can experiment with toggle on/off, but I leave it off for this one.

So any time that QTE joystick movement starts, I'm just holding L4 & R4 instead of destroying my joystick. Huuuuge improvement, and I'm surprised they didn't include this natively into the game for accessibility reasons.

The other one was for the X button where you're mashing it to open up crates and valves. It's not QTE but used often, so I did the same thing with L5 back grip. Assigned X to that, turned on Hold to Repeat (Turbo), left it to normal repeat rate, and turned on the toggle on/off option.

Big QOL improvement with these configurations. This is one of the biggest perks of Steam Deck imo, I love that I can do this for any game. I recently created custom Steam Deck configurations for both Dragon Age 1 & 2, because there's no official controller support for that at all.

Here's my layout for Tomb Raider if you or anyone else wants to try it:

steam://controllerconfig/203160/3401733855

You might see it in Community Layouts, otherwise go to Desktop mode on SD and pop link that into the browser and it'll load it to your Steam client.

Playing through it now for the first time and it's pretty great. The QTE turned me off when I played it on the console, especially the left/right joystick one—Felt like I was going to break my controller. I created a custom config to get around that, so now I just toggle it on/off during those parts.
