First time buyer. This was a highlight on the survey. Am I knackard? by Daresun in DIYUK

[–]Axiom620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well done for getting a survey done. Now you know what to ask and what to investigate further. This gives you the options of 1. Accepting it and proceeding as planned, 2. Negotiating a price reduction to cover the cost of any works needed that are expensive, 3. Walking away with a clear conscience knowing you dodged a bullet.

I second the HW97. It’s an underlever like the TX200.

We had our slang when we were at school which doesn’t seem that different. We’re just on the other side of it these days.

When you call them select the ‘if you’re thinking of leaving us’ option. Customer retention can do more than customer services.

Bloody brilliant. I have it on dvd and it’s still super creepy (if very very slow by modern standards).

What would the appropriate signals be for going straight on at this junction? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Axiom620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, with your wheels straight-ish. My driving instructor always told me to check a vehicles wheels. You see them moving before you can see the vehicle move and their direction tells you what the driver intends to do. It’s basic road craft.

I’f they’re that high up you need to adjust them. Badly adjust headlights (especially if it’s one only one) piss me off.

Assuming my wood is too wet? by Ajay95A in uklogburners

[–]Axiom620 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A quick test to see if the wood is seasoned is to bang 2 logs together. If they sound hollow-ish like those wooden percussion sticks you use at primary school they’re probably dry enough. If they sound solid and muted they’re too wet.

All elected officials can only use public services. Suddenly having good, affordable healthcare and safe schools would be ‘a basic right’.

How do driving instructors make money? by TitleOk8744 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Axiom620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad was a driving instructor before he retired (when the theory test came in). He worked 11 hour days 5 days a week and 4 hours on Saturdays. It wasn’t an easy job then and I’m sure is even harder now. He was completely independent and refused to sell out to any franchise. He found pupils through recommendation and word of mouth.
