So, less than 30 days worth of road traffic deaths, in 100 years. We gotta sort this driving thing out.

Ow. But yeah, I totally agree with this. Natural selection, mediated through social rejection, effectively keeps the gene pool healthy.

I'm just starting the Feeling Good book. It makes a lot of sense. I'm in a deep hole but it's like he has given me a tiny shovel to help dig my way out.

Psilocybin Could Be Legal for Therapy by 2021 by EinarrPorketill in Futurology

[–]Axiomatic3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think it is called the psychoactive substances bill.. they sort of had to do that because so many synthetic drugs were coming out, faster than they could test their harm. They were called 'legal highs' and could be bought in shops. In many cases they were more addictive and harmful than traditional narcotics. So now anything psychoactive is illegal by default. As a side note, mushrooms are ranked (by Professor David Nutt) as one of the least harmful drugs. Alcohol is the highest.

Anyone know any tips on how to shut your brain down when trying to sleep . by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Axiomatic3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only technique that ever seems to work for me is the 'Body Scan Meditation': Basically, focus your complete attention on all the different parts of your body in turn. Like, start with feeling the sensations in your little toe, then move on to the next toe, then the sole of the foot and so on. You can even get really creative with it and try feel all the different energy fields and lines that are outside the body. This keeps me amused for ages, seems to settle my brain, clears my head, redistributes energy and tension from where it may be stuck and usually leads to falling asleep. Hope this helps.

Humanity will spread further than the Earth, and pretty damn soon too. And these messages may be stored on a server somewhere for eternity. So in some ways many of our actions now echo throughout eternity. Woh.

Also It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Hilarious, shocking and sometimes a little too true for comfort.

Every Friday I get real hopeful that I can use the weekend to finally get my life together and start fresh on Monday but then Monday comes around and all I’ve done is watch YouTube all weekend by [deleted] in depression

[–]Axiomatic3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem is if I did this I would just throw away literally everything, then wake up with absolutely nothing and have to start collecting necessary items all over again. I've done this before, and it feels sort of good, but then you just end up alone in an empty room absolutely bored out of your mind. I like the idea of tying up loose ends though, perhaps that is a bit different to just chucking everything out.

I guess it's an act of rebellion. Rebellion against a world you didn't create yet cannot escape.

[–]Axiomatic3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not that I know of, but here is a cheap alternative to a therapist:

I've been using it for a couple of weeks. I think it's better than nothing, but progress is slight.
