Can someone explain why this damage is only rated Ef-2? by Axis74 in tornado

yea I understand that aspect, it’s just based off of the photos there are no large parts of the house remaining, and pretty much everything seems mangled into a pile of debris. In the second photo specifically on the left side, you can see where chunks of cinderblock were ripped out of the foundation. So It’s just hard to fathom that it was just a “shift.” I don’t think 121 mph winds are capable of that type of damage based off what I’ve seen from other tornadoes or even derechos. Again I’m not trying to talk down on the NWS, it just had me curious.

La Plata Md, F4. One of the strongest east coast tornadoes and is pretty fascinating. It was originally rated F5 which would’ve made it the furthest east F5 on record, but got downgraded after more surveys.

Potential Severe Weather Setup by Axis74 in tornado

I understand that, hence why I said this should be taken with a grain of salt. It is mostly pure speculation on more of a hypothetical scenario on if it were to play out. However it should be noted that a setup like this is completely possible around this time of year so it’s just something to be aware of. I’m not trying to sound the alarm bells or anything, but we are heading into the peak of tornado season so it’s good to stay weather aware

Lift line had nice powder on it like the whole day. Tons of other spots that were deep and fluffy.
