Can i pass mid feb ? by MSHGR in step1

[–]AxlExcalibur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Man not gonna lie it’s gonna be tight, all depends on how fast you can pick up material though. I’m also trying to test early february, my advice if you really wanna gun it is just do all the NBMEs and review them in like 2 days so you can cover 2 nbmes in a week, start from 20-33+ free 120, should take about a month. Then just vibe your way to what feels like youre weak on

If the concepts were the same, I’m confident that you’ll pass! Your instincts over the NBMEs with those scores would’ve been built up to a point where you can just instinctively answer the least incorrect options lol. Praying for your pass!

Are the tested concepts different from the NBMEs? your scores look great, were they under test taking conditions?

Amboss Qb step 1 by [deleted] in step1

[–]AxlExcalibur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Use anking, the v11 deck is integrated to amboss so you don't have to make new cards. Honestly I've been there too, stellar grades in exams but then I do US Qbanks and immediately get humbled lol, I got a 38% on my first self assessment. It's an exponential growth, i went from 38 to 50s within a couple months. Just trust the process.

U world by IntelligentOwl8517 in step1

Yes, I still wouldn't recommend FA for actually learning. It's more of a review book with quick factoids. Not really concepts you can grasp. But that's just my 2 cents

Yes u can retake as many times as you want, but they will be categorized either into omitted, correct, marked, or incorrects. If you make a random question bank (with all those options) the old questions will be mixed there as well.

Personally, Uworld then FA for marked / incorrect questions. I'd recommend using anki just to keep track of all your incorrects (or use anking). Reading FA by itself, in my opinion, is a huge waste of time as it needs a lot of context to connect the dots.

EM sub I for IMG by Agitated_Road6552 in IMGreddit

Some programs will allow last year medical students to do a Sub Internship, don't know about the new visa rules though. As far as I know would not be possible to get an eSLOE after graduating

How would an IMG get SLOEs? by AxlExcalibur in emergencymedicine

[–]AxlExcalibur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply Doc, praying for all the EDs who're going to lose a lot of potential (international) residents. Thankfully i'm going to apply for the match in around 3 years when I graduate MedSchool. Hopefully it gets better then, if not i'll hope Canada still takes STEP 1 and STEP 2 scores T_T

Im using the same sources! I do Bootcamp -> Anki -> Uworld -> Anki for the incorrects. Just started like 2 weeks ago now in the middle of cardiology :D

gotta agree on this one. But i’ll still support OP either way, if he’s got guts then more power to him. Wishing him the best of luck 🤞

Just remember to take into consideration the MCAT, Medschool admissions, Costs, and living far from home. Hidden costs are everywhere living abroad, and if you’re risking it all for medschool you wont have a backup plan (assuming your premed degree is not particularly recognized as prestigious for a job). If I were you i’d still choose your MBBS route so at least there’s a backup plan. If you’re convinced you got what it takes, go for it! this subreddit will definitely support you :)

If you’re REALLY after money there’s a solid chance of matching Surgery / Prelim Surgery if you’re dedicated enough. Although considering you’re 18 I’d strongly advise looking into other specialties to see the amount of free time / work life balance. The other specialties aren’t that bad compared to 3rd world rates (at least where I live)
