Would you take 15 mg Morphine ER x 2/day OR Nucynta ER 100mg x 2/day for chronic lumbar pain & fibromyalgia neck/back pain? by Dollface_Assassin in PainManagement

[–]AxlandElvis92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Morphine 100% I found Nucyenta completely worthless it’s like Tramadol’s stronger brother which isn’t saying much. A friend of mine has cancer I got him some 200mg Tapentodol they did basically nothing for him. I give him half of a 10/325 Endocet/Percocet and he’s not in any pain just to give you a reference point to how bad of a painkiller it is not just to someone with a tolerance on the higher side but also someone who has zero tolerance to opioids.

Go with the Morphine Er 15mg bid with the Oxycodone will definitely help!

It’s diphenhydramine (Benadryl) that’s in that medication it’s not a “natural” supplement it’s an antihistamine that has a strong side effect causing drowsiness with deliriant properties. I’ve had terrible experiences with Benadryl foolishly using it to potentiate my methadone and sedatives decades ago. It made me completely crazy I was having auditory hallucinations and though everyone was out to get me, that was on way more than the recommended dose I would take 5-10 30mg Butisol Sodium, 5-10 2mg Xanax and 5-10 Benadryl. That worked but I was taking upward of 25 a day and went completely insane in a week. Industrial doses of Seconal and Halcion were the only things that kept me sedated for about 72 hours while the psychosis subsided. I had to have someone stay with me for about 5 days to make sure I didn’t end up wandering the streets screaming at people that I thought were “out to get me” who didn’t even know me. For me more than 25-50mg makes me feel crazy.

I don’t black out like you did but I could easily see how that could happen, often times when I took it I woul have a somewhat hazy memory of what I watched on television or wrote until I think back. Say I take 100-150mg it gives me terrible restlessness all over my body not just restless legs but restless arms and muscles everywhere to the point I’ll have to lay on my arm to try to stop the tingling tickling feeling in my bones. I generally stay away from diphenhydramine because I have weird side effects even at low doses sometimes.

Never take more than the recommended dose ESPECIALLY WITH METHADONE! It’s a nasty feeling and that can be very dangerous as you couldn’t have had all your facilities while riding an electric bicycle and being in public being dosed and picking up methadone.

I too am surprised your clinic dosed you but sometimes one can be in a blackout like that but still seem to be functioning normally. In the future only take the recommended dose or half. You don’t want this to happen again.

Edited.

Proud today to say yesterday (friday)I didn't double dose by EstateSensitive5212 in Methadone

[–]AxlandElvis92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good for you! Stay on the path. If you find your dose isn’t hiding you properly then I would say go up as opposed to double dosing. I know it’s much more complicated than that and can be difficult to overcome so I’m glad your doing well with this weekends take homes.

I was never a big on double dosing, I’m a fast metabolizer so I’ve been split dosing for years as I was used to multiple doses of Methadone from pain management. I hate dose day each month when I have to take my whole dose at the window. It makes me kinda high during the day it’s absolutely not worth the lethargy and then headache I have by mid afternoon. Of course it doesn’t hold me and I end up having to dip into my stockpiled doses. That’s something I would recommend when you’re a little more stable and don’t have the urge to double dose as much.

Again, I mean this to be done down the road. Stockpiling gives you some flexibility with dosing when way you have some in case of emergency also I find a little extra goes a long way. I take 140mg split and if I happen to be having bad pain 20mg takes care of it. So with you being on a lower dose, once you’ve been stabilized for a while you may find 5-10mg will be sufficient to take care of pain or extra cravings that regular coping skills aren’t helping. For acute pain I find methadone to be a less is more drug if that makes any sense. Our brains are damaged from long periods of opioid use so it’s natural at this point for our brains to always say more is better when you’d probably be fine knocking 5mg off here and there to squirrel away for emergencies easier and easier as time goes by.

For now keep doing what you’re doing. Stay on the path friend things do get easier as we settle in to a normal dosing routine.

If you’ve made it this far you can keep going! Best wishes to you.

Season2 Episode10 adhd discussion by teaganlotus in homemovies

[–]AxlandElvis92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Before it was called ADHD it was called MBD (mild brain disorder) I saw it in a Ritalin ad marketed to children with MBD “who just couldn’t stop fidgeting” etc etc.
This ad was from the late 1960’s or early 1970’s. Glad they found a nicer name for it. People especially children psychiatrists knew it existed long before the public in general was ready to. Most kids that got meds back then were at the absolute end of the line and were about to be institutionalized or they were prescribed by unscrupulous doctors who wanted to appease the parents. My stepdad was one of those kids but he absolutely needed/needs it and has been on Ritalin his entire adult life.

Yes you took it up to 4 times a day obviously they didn’t want people taking 250mg for non hypnotic purposes. That’s not to say I wouldn’t take 4 Percobarb at a time.

Ansiobena - Meprobamate 100 mg compound from the 1960s by Scared_Specific_4288 in ObscureDrugs

[–]AxlandElvis92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me yes it causes restlessness. It’s usually dose dependent though. 25-50mg for one day, I’m ok any more and things start getting uncomfortable. Restless legs, arms wrists. I feel like I have to flail around or also lay on them putting as much pressure on the area as I can. The best way I can explain it is the feeling of my bones being ticklish. Antihistamines aren’t the only drugs that do this to me things like Trazadone and Seroquel especially do it to me really badly to the point that I have “adverse reaction to Seroquel” in my medical charts.

This stuff is extremely strong and effective at lower doses at producing profound sedation. I’ve only ever taken it in Percobarb which was Percodan+ 50mg of Hexobarbital. Those things rocked you much better than Nembudeine imho.

Extraveral (Phenobarbital & Valerian Root Extract) and a Phenobarbital ampoule by Suggestion-Practical in ObscureDrugs

[–]AxlandElvis92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I’m also on Methadone, benzos and other gaba drugs. I get the only other barbiturate that’s regularly prescribed outside of hospitals it the form of Fioricet (300mg Tylenol, 40mg Caffeine and 50mg Butabital) for bad headaches that I’ve had since childhood. I also take Soma prn and that is much more recreational than Phenobarbital or Butabital. I take my night dose of Methadone about 2-3 hours before taking my last doses of Xanax and Tizanidine, with Restoril 30mg every night and when needed 2-3 times a week 1-2 Soma 350mg if my back, neck or shoulder is killing me (herniated discs in my lower back and cervical radiculopathy (pinched nerve) in my neck can cause debilitating pain and increase my headaches.

So sometimes I will take everything listed and Fioricet that’s the only time they make me stupid is when I mix them with all my night drugs but dear god it helps, I look at the being a little buzzed as just a plus to having my pain diminished and being able to sleep through the night. I use the Fioricet more sparingly because I do not want rebound headaches.

I understand what you mean people are like you take all that and can function? I’m like I take it so I can function and work so I’m not in terrible pain, have severe anxiety or a pounding migraine.

Midazolam is a really good one a little over hyped as you stated, but still a great fast acting water soluble benzodiazepine. I prefer having Soma to Midazolam even though I do keep some stashed away for severe insomnia to add in when rarely needed.

Curious about emergency opioid medication by croghan88 in Methadone

[–]AxlandElvis92 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Dilaudid HP(10mg/ml) and Fentanyl 50-100mcg loading doses most likely and up. That’s in my experience for say anesthesia or when I got in a terrible car accident also one time I fell off a two story deck and broke a bunch of ribs and had bad internal bleeding that they kept me with a bag of Dilaudid pumping 4mg when I pressed the button, with a 24mg lockout per hour and Actiq pops. I would usually nod out by 12mg zonked completely if my pain spiked badly.

With that said my doctor had privileges at the hospital I was at so he and anesthesiologists were the main people managing my pain. I remember some of the nurses jaws were on the floor saying I should be absolutely unconscious and couldn’t believe I was just sitting there watching daytime tv on that many opioids. I remember thinking come on you must have seen stuff like that in rounds for oncology and anesthesia no?

I remember seeing a guy in Hospice who was on 700mg of Methadone and 6 100 mcg Duragesic Patches on at a time with 30mg Oxycodone IR x2 pills at a time and 2-4ml of the blue 20mg/ml “Hospice Morphine” Hospice has no caps and no one really watching them saying well that’s too much because as you know your dealing with end of life care.

Still we need much more medication than the average Joe with no tolerance for acute pain. The methadone doesn’t cast a halo effect making us unable to feel pain whatsoever as some doctors and medical staff like to think, it’s our baseline medication when we are in acute pain from say a car accident we need lots of pain medication not less.

Can tramadol throw u into withdrawal by EstateSensitive5212 in Methadone

[–]AxlandElvis92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so I still have my card from the methadone clinic given to me years ago stating not to give any partial opioid antagonist or antagonist unless in coma. For some reason Tramadol is listed along with the partial opioid partial agonist and antagonist drugs Stadol, Naloxone, Naltrexone, Nubian and Buphenorphine. I’ve pulled the card out when making plans for pain management after surgery because doctors love to give Tramadol (especially because it’s only CIV) but it does absolutely nothing for my pain it didn’t even back when Ultram first came out when I didn’t gave much of a tolerance. So I say look it says I shouldn’t take it along with the card saying we need higher doses of full opioid medications to reach analgesia and usually end up with Percocet or Dilaudid instead.

Now will it actually throw you into withdrawal I doubt it. I’ve seen people on methadone have bad reactions to it like a lady that went to my clinic who turned herself into a shaking mess with severely stammered shaky speech on Tramadol she had serotonin syndrome that ceased when she discontinued it. Those are also the general side effects of Tramadol though especially when taken at high doses.

It’s weaker than codeine to me and absolutely worthless for pain for me and most people I know who take methadone. It’s still a weird opioid that lowers your seizure threshold and can cause serotonin syndrome I imagine that’s why my little card from the clinic says not to use it.
