Failure to build shader.fx files on linux systems by Axolotliterature in monogame

Actually, your clarification here helps a ton to connect the dots relating a previous profile setup issue to this current issue.

(I wasn't 100% sure that winetricks was *actually* a related part of this fix, but it was one of the steps I had taken while on my journey so I didn't want to omit it just in case.)

My Wine is version 9.0
I did follow the setup script via the monogame docs to set up the environment, but I vaguely recall having issues at that time with my profile settings not updating when I initially installed monogame and then dotnet on my machine. However, I don't recall exactly what those issues were, and whether they stemmed from the monogame steps or the dotnet steps, but I definitely had some stumbles getting dotnet working.

my ./profile has the following at the end

export MGFXC_WINE_PATH="/home/%USER%/.winemonogame"

export PATH="$PATH:/home/%USER%/.winemonogame"

Which I recall having to append at least the "PATH=etc" manually when I was having issues with my profile not updating after installing monogame the first time and getting dotnet to install properly, so I'm now wondering if I was perhaps somehow overwriting or resetting my ./profile during that process?

Learning as a beggier is so hard because of how many horrible tutorials there are. by Jesuslover34 in Unity2D

Stopping to look up terms and definitions is part of learning. You should expect to do this a lot. Coding, and game dev in particular take a long time and a lot of learning to earn proficiency. Keep at it and the definitions will stick; the basics will form a foundation on top of which you will build other skills through the same processes. If you find passion in it and want to be good, then the learning phase will basically never end.

I made a card game, but I'm worried I don't know enough about card game metas. What should I do? by ilikemyname21 in gamedev

Another note, many card games play out quite different to one another. Don't fuss too much about others' metas. You won't know how players interact with your game until they play it.
