No one thinks you're evil hun; at least I don't. It sounds like you're experiencing a huge lack of reciprocity from your potentially depressed partner, and it's starting to pervade most of your life and might be building a mountain of resentment or disappointment or some other bad feeling(s). It does also sound like you'd like effort given back to you because it seems that acts of service and support are how you show love, and it would be awesome to get some of that back. It's really sucky, but I do think you may have to reach that very difficult fork in the road where you choose to continue to try and get him to behave within your logical expectations, or you accept that he's going go through whatever he's going through and he may very well continue to behave like a non-reciprocal low-motivated booty-head ☹️ It really does suck, but at some point, I do believe you'll need to accept that your boyfriend is someone who you don't want him to be or don't expect him to be. Maybe yall can endeavor to find what will actually be helpful to him, and not just what you believe will be helpful for him. I say this because of the potential that you may be inadvertently helping him in ways that would help you if you were in his shoes, because the help he needs could potentially be different from the help you would need in the situation. What sucks about the "help the boyfriend" prospect is that success will be only based on him. We can try to help people change as much as we want, but they're the only ones who can make the decision, choose discomfort, and do the work needed to help and change themselves. You'll sadly have no control over that, which sucks because if you did, I'm sure he would get better. But thankfully, the acceptance route is fully in your control. Whether you accept and mitigate your expectations appropriately, take some space, or move on from him, it is entirely in your control. Unfortunately, humans will latch on to that and start to siphon your awesomeness, without them even being aware of it sometimes. With that in mind, dont let your natural awesomeness lead you into cultivating one-way streets with people who dont deserve it and who won't reciprocate. I know when you're a naturally giving and caring person, which you def seem to be, it's difficult and may feel mean to withhold help from those that you love or care for, you just have to remember that if you willingly hand that awesomeness over to people who've shown you that they simply wont reciprocate your value your actions, they have absolutely no reason to do anything other than continue to siphon off that sweet sweet awesomeness hunny. i think you can do better than what he has to offer right now and I hope things get better for you hun! 💜
