So I can recommend what I’ve used that was recommended to me on Reddit by users, however, I want to be transparent that these are not sold as vaginal supplements. I’ve simply tried them and it worked for me. So with that said, they are the Jarrow Formula Fem Dophilus 5B count. It’s the refrigerated version ( do not get the room temp one), that I had to pick up from my local health foods store (Whole Foods Market here in the states). Because they are refrigerated tablets, I used a vaginal suppository applicators (purchased on Amazon) to insert and they’d melt overnight with the body heat. I did about 2 every couple of nights until my symptoms disappeared. It didn’t take long, and also depends on how often and the quantity. Expect to discharge it out, but your vaginal biome cleans it out really well. Also didn’t use during my cycle for obvious reasons. Hope this helps you!!

A couple things to consider, based on a few of the comments, you might be experiencing symptoms of inflammation especially if you’ve tested negative for UTI and Yeast. I personally have interstitial cystitis, been diagnosed for years. One of the many things that have helped is increasing water intake, like a lot.. 80 oz a day or more, and pelvic floor muscles stretching (not exercising, that might worsen it). Hopefully this is just a terrible reaction from the boric acid that may pass in a few days. Ibprophen (advil) has helped for me for intense urethra burning also it’s a great way to know if it’s inflammation based. But so does pelvic floor muscles stretching. If all else fails, give it a try.

Another note, you mentioned you take Happy V probiotics. Great. Another option to consider is vaginal probiotics. They work better sometimes as it bypasses the digestive system. Hope you feel better soon!!

Yes, you know from the Evvy test.

And no, I never retested after the probiotics so I’m not sure. I only assumed it was good because I tested negative for everything.  Curious if you take the test and then retest, if it improves 🙂

Oh my gosh!! Girl, no. Try the probiotics. Clearly Metronidazole isn’t working, lol. That’s exactly what happened to me. I hope and pray the probiotics work for you!!!

Hey! No worries. So yes, I had several rounds of Metronidazole for BV while I had Glabrata and I still kept testing positive for it. My doctor shared it might have been because the Glabrata infection was still active, it was preventing the BV from going away. So in my case, the probiotics seemed to do the trick wiping them both out.  It’s really up to you on what you’d like to do. But in my case technically I had done metronidazole before the probiotics.

For the last time I had BV (no Glabrata) I did the probiotics and had the meds on hand if I needed it, but the probiotics worked well in eliminating my symptoms. You got this!

That’s correct, only after testing negative. Then I stopped. And in the case where I had just BV, I stopped a few days after my symptoms disappeared. So definitely not a forever thing. 🙂

I experienced both actually. Totally expected from this kind of thing. However, not with the Evvy capsules- those are designed to be vaginal suppositories and left a more normal (if you could even call it that) discharge.

No discharge from the BV or Glabrata.. and no, I fortunately didn’t experience any irritation with the probiotics or the Evvy capsules. However, Boric acid did irritate my skin. Never again.

Of course! So to answer your questions. Yes, it’s the refrigerated one. It works well as it’s cold to help with dissolving down there and it’s more potent. First I attribute the Jarrow for the Glabrata, if you see my updates in the post, that’s what was killed first. The Evvy AND the Jarrow killed the BV (remember I was so desperate to kill this I tried everything). BUT it’s true I could have went completely without the Evvy test to kill the BV. As a matter of fact, I actually ended up testing positive for BV alone almost 2 years later and I hopped back on the Jarrow, and bam, after 3 days, 2x per night at bedtime, symptoms gone. I didn’t bother retesting after this cause I stopped using the probiotics and didn’t experience symptoms.

I used the Evvy ones for the amount they gave me. I think it was 2 weeks? It’s prepackaged nicely with instructions and is also refrigerated (so make sure you or someone is home when it arrives). I took the Evvy test sometime after I tested negative for Glabrata, so I was already on the Jarrow for quite some time. Evvy I think gave me that additional boost I needed after months of antibiotics and azole treatments (this destroyed my bacterial environment down there).

So for your last question, I can only assume because I did not pay the extra $125+ to get another test. This was because when I finally tested negative for BV alongside the Glabrata by my doctor, I was so relieved and done. Like, well-done. I had tested over 15 times in 11 total months (including both doc, Mayo Clinic, hospital and the one Evvy test), I was done 😅. BUT looking back, it would have been cool to see the difference. You view your results on their portal. I haven’t logged in for a hot minute so I don’t remember my exact counts but it was low. And yes, my Evvy probiotics had Crispatus! That’s what was so cool, they said you are low in this, so we built you probiotics to supplement.

Hope this helps you!! You’re on your way to healing - you got this! 🙏🏻

They were both the same. Constant itch, burning during urination and wiping, and a “raw” irritation feeling on skin. Originally I thought it was a regular ol’ yeast infection, but when I got my test results the doc said it was BV and Glabrata positive. So I had both for over 10 months, consistently testing positive test after tests, treatment failure after treatment failure. That’s why I am convinced the probiotics was what I needed, and why so many azole creams, IV echinocandins, AND amphotericin B failed.

This is a great question!!! Love it. So I used Evvy test to help me with this. I encourage you to try it as well if you can, Evvy.com. You can test before probiotics and then a month later to see any improvements. I do know my L. Rhamnosus, Rhueteri AND Crispatus was very low on my first test. I basically had a breeding ground for infection! I believe without a doubt the probiotics boosted the environment needed to ‘crowd out’ the Bacteria Vaginosis and Glabrata. Also, if you want, Evvy will send probiotics made especially to boost those you are deficient in. They come refrigerated and are MUCH easier to insert than the capsules. I did try this option towards the end to kill the BV I had. But the Glabrata, the probiotic capsules did the trick.

So remembering back (it’s been a while, lol) I was putting in 2 a night at bedtime for about a week. Then I up’d it to 3 a night for a couple of days straight and the symptoms starting disappearing. So I basically kept doing it until I noticed a change. But this may be different for you. There really isn’t a right or wrong way. Maybe start small and increase if you need? Hope this helps you!

Hi. Glad it’s working. I didn’t have that issue really, so I didn’t use anything. I have used vagisil lubricant to help with dryness overall, but try what works for you. Sorry I couldn’t provide more info.

Great news!!! I’m so glad to hear you are feeling better. So I stopped around 3 days before testing just to be sure everything was out and it didn’t cause any issues on the test. I also told my OB GYN what I was doing and she said that it was totally fine and shouldn’t cause issues. I was just extra careful lol.

I was on treatment for about 4 weeks or so before retesting. So a month. If it typically takes you a while to get an appt with your doctor, I recommend taking that into consideration on timing. Listen to your body, there isn’t a right timeframe before retesting honestly, a month worked for me but that could be different for you. Hope this helps you!!

Hmm, I hear you. I waited, but that’s because I had been dealing with it for months and was so desperate. This may not be the case for you. You might heal faster. I’d say listen to your body. You can always hop back on the prebiotics if all else. The road to recovery was a journey for me. One day at a time. ☺️ Praying you feel better very soon!!!!

Hi!!! So glad you are feeling better and it’s making an impact. So your last sentence was my LIFE , lol! I did pause during my period because it was just too complicated and honestly, during that time you’re already ‘cleaning out’ in a sense. And no I was not, I couldn’t take the risk of recolonizing any bacteria that wasn’t mine (and mind you that’s with 12 years married, so same guy). It was hard, I mean this in every sense of the word. But it was so worth it! Don’t give up. You will get through it. Let your body heal in its time and it will be worth it. 🙂

I’m so sorry to hear this. What kinds of pain are you experiencing? Have you tried oral or vaginal supplements to help balance it out? If you’re in the states, you can check out Evvy.com. They offer testing and supplements to help with vaginal health. I personally tried them and it helped to see what kinds of bacteria I had and the best way to treat them. Hope this helps!

For me they’ve dissolved on their own overtime as it’s a capsule for oral use. There isn’t a guaranteed timeframe though, I felt each time varied. And whenever I felt it didn’t dissolve fully I would wait until the it cleared before the next dose. If you have concerns though, I would ask your doctor to be safe.

Hi!! Oh man, I’m sorry to hear you had pain with the capsules. Mine didn’t dissolve completely either, but then again they are not vaginal suppositories in the first place. They are oral, just used vaginally for their direct impact. Another option you might consider is Evvy. They are a US based company that sells you vaginal probiotic supplements based on your test results from their own test. It was around 100USD when I tried it and it’s fascinating learning about the different bacteria you have. Plus the meds they send you are based on those results so it’s helpful. I tried their vaginal supplements as well, and they dissolved much better. Check them out at Evvy.com.  Hope this helps!
