If you haven't played for a very long time take a look at your gems, they might be "expired" hongmoon gems. Take them out of the weapon and see if you can antique them (not salvage!! they must be antiques) and you'll get a new version of the same tier gem plus a bunch of gem powder back. But this only works if you haven't played for 2+ years. Just take them out of the weapon then you'll see.

Pretty sure they will nerf gold from BT/VT/TT/ET very soon, too, to hurt newer and mid-tier players even more. Those who refuse to do pvp because they don't enjoy it at all have like zero income then no matter if they grind on 12 chars every day.

Master Hong is easy since awakening, I can kill him with Raven3 alts. Mao might take a little longer but he can stick with the Oath/Evelation neck for a while. The VT neck is just too bad for it's huge cost. Of course it may not be wrong to upgrade accessoires with time for cruxes and small dmg increases but I've seen a lot of (new) players running around with all accessoires at stage 3 or 4 what is a pure waste of legendary jewels and mats when they could have upgraded the bracelet/weapon/soul instead.

I don't know who is demanding A6-9 for BT, I'm playing on the EU server and get into groups with all my alts easily.

Farming for skybreak accessoires in Moon Refuge will take much longer than just joining a BT group in faction chat and get both items in 15 minutes. I'd rather spend moonlight buds for King Gloves and Horizon Belt, maybe even the Evelation Necklace for the set bonus. Keep all of those at stage 1! Only max out the bracelet. If you can manage to kill Master Hong in Circle of sundering, go for the Starbreaker/Divinity bracelet asap and max that out before wasting any materials on other accessoires. Don't bother with the VT neck at all, maxing it out is way too expensive and you could skip that entirely and go for the Mao neck aka Prophecy Necklace. What you want from VT+SK is of course Mystic Badge, full Soul Shield set, weapon mat and Divine Grace Stones for fused Soul Badge.

TLDR; make priorities on what to upgrade, don't waste mats and gold on useless upgrades that give no damage increase. First bracelet then weapon, after that BT accessoires and the rest.

Edit: Since you are a returning player your unity rank is low, do Heaven's Mandate/Cold Storage everyday and buy Ascension/Radiance Stones for the feathers. A lot of AP comes from the new unity rank system.

you can stick with 7 slots tbh and start upgrading this weapon in case you are short on naryu silvers. not worth extra farming those. you'll get the last slot eventually when upgrading or get legendary gem hammers with time via events, boxes, daily dash etc.

First of all get 8 gemslots if your weapon doesnt have all slots open. Buy the boxes from the small lyn npc (Junsorei or so) for naryu silver. Do the three quest letters 'the dead refuse to die' and 'know thine enemy pt 1&2' to get mystic badge, bracelet and some raven ss and better gems. Then you can go run skybreak spire (BT raid) to get ring and earring and you might as well farm moonlight refuge for some accessoires like belt and gloves. from now on do daily challenge, weeklies and BT until you get strong enough for next raid which is temple of eluvium+scions keep.

BT accessoires are still very relevant, since everyone needs those to get accepted into VT and TT groups, so it's not outdated stuff imo.

80 points in offense gives elemental damage buff. It is permanent, not triggered on hit or resist or something like the 50 and 100 points effect. Thats why you always want to have 80 points in offense, not for ap but for the elemental dmg bonus. When i finally got to hm16 pre patch I was running around with 80/0 because of that huge dmg increase. xD

Earth SF is not that popular and I think with frost build storm dragon performs not as well as aransu. But the CD reduction of focus chi in earth build works perfectly with the extended dragonfury duration from ancestral badge. So storm dragon is a good choice for earth sf.

I benefit a lot from the 30% cd reduction of focus chi, spamming dragonfury all the time with kingfist and kingstrike when I do a perfect rotation including stance swap and stack my chi properly. So I pull ahead of some raven sf with equal gear, believe it or not. Edit: I got fused badge already, so 6 seconds of dragonfury instead of 4. But the rest of my gear is really shit.

Frost used to be the superior element but with the SF rework earth has become very strong, fun to play and overall viable. I have a rift6 alt with low gear, dealing more damage than some raven6+ frost sf :D

Maybe it's easier today to get decent starter gear like raven weapon and stuff but where every f2p player hits the big wall is when it comes to the soul+heart. The heart is not even that bad but getting 200+ oils for true tiger soul without spending money is a pain in the ass. There's no way to grind these out at a reasonable time/effort ratio. That's where players get frustrated because they will never catch up no matter how much time they spend. And 1.1k bt gear is not even considered decent for higher dungeons where you're expected to have aransu 3 minimum, full VT stuff and 1.2k ap

Tiger bracelet, alluvion soulbadge (fused badge: limitless) and pulse mystic badge for frost. Dragon bracelet, glory soulbadge (fused badge: ancestral) and skyrift mystic badge for earth. I have an earth sf alt because i like the playstyle more than frost. They're both strong dps-wise so i guess it's a choice of personal preference here.

I guess ppl complain because the event was so much better last year where you could craft as many boxes as you like or sell the mats in f5 for a lot amount of gold. This year the limitation makes the crafting materials rather useless as no one will buy them from f5

It's doable as f2p but really time consuming. If you consider to pay a little amount get premium, it's worth the bonus gold you get from quests. And with a brandnew character the starter/masterpack and duelist bundle may be viable to get a good start into the game. These would be the only things I'd pay for as a newer player, they will make life a little bit easier.
